Your Heart Is Just a Blood Pumping Station

"Your thoughts, your feelings, your emotions, your sentiments, all are centered in your head. It is just a fallacy to think that your feelings are in the heart. Your heart is just a blood pumping station.

"When we are talking about the empty heart, we are really talking about the empty mind. Buddha has used the word heart instead of mind because mind has become associated with the idea that it is only the process of thinking, and the process of feeling is in the heart, and the heart is deeper.

"These ideas have been created by the poets. But the truth is, you can call it empty mind or you can call it empty heart; it is the same. Emptiness – you are just a watcher and all around there is nothing with which you are identified, there is nothing to which you are clinging. This non-clinging watchfulness is the empty mind, no-mind, or empty heart. These are simply words. The real thing is emptiness – of all thoughts, feelings, sentiments, emotions. Only a single point of witnessing remains."

Welcoming Spirit Home: Ancient African Teachings to Celebrate Children and Community By "Sobonfu Some"

In West Africa, in the nation of Burkina Faso, there is a tribe called the Dagara and they believe every mother dreams her child into being. In her book, Welcoming Spirit Home: Ancient African Teachings to Celebrate Children and Community, child development author, Sobonfu Some, describes how, for the Dagara, the life of a child doesn’t begin the day they are born. Nor does it begin just after conception. Instead a child is “born” the day it first becomes a thought in the mind of its mother. Once a woman feels it’s time for her to have a child, she walks off by herself and finds a tree. Under its shade, she sits and waits, until she hears the song of her child. Soon as she’s heard it, she returns to her village and finds the man who will be the father of the child. She teaches him the song. And while they make love, together, they sing their child’s song, inviting it into this world. After the woman becomes pregnant, the mother teaches her child’s song to all the other women of the village.
When a woman is ready to give birth, she will be accompanied by a group of women outside the homestead. They will assist her during her labour. Immediately after the child is born, the women return to the homestead. The mother and child then spend a week at a special shelter built to the side of the headman’s hut, near the sacred fire, under special protection of the ancestral spirits. After the week has passed, the child is brought to the sacred fire and introduced to the spirits of the ancestors by the headman. The child is given names from the patrilineal and matrilineal lines, ensuring that the origins of the child are known
On the day her child pushes out of her womb, all the women gather together and sing the child’s song, welcoming it into this world. As it grows up, whenever the child gets hurt, any villager can comfort the child by singing their song to them since each member of the tribe knows everyone’s song. Later, when the child is older and has done something worthy of praise, the tribe will sing the child’s song to him or her. And when they’re ready to undergo the rites of puberty, the tribe will gather and sing the child’s song. When a child becomes an adult, and they get married, the bride and groom’s songs are sung together as a way of linking their lives. Finally, at the end of their life, as the child prepares to die, the tribe gathers and sings the child’s song to him or her, for the last time.  【Welcoming Spirit Home: Ancient African Teachings to Celebrate Children and Community
By Sobonfu E. Some

This is an amazing book ,In it, Sobonfu Some shares some of the ancient traditions and rituals of her Dagara tribe - mostly around child-bearing and -rearing - and also offers some modern ways to implement the rituals here in the West to help renew a sense of connectedness and community. You will love the idea that a baby is "spirit" coming "home," and that a family needs to prepare a place for spirit and welcome it. 】

Oh beautiful krishna

O Krsna, the sight of Your beautiful lotus-face is the perfection of the eyes. Splendidly decorated with many garlands, You appear very beautiful in the midst of the cowherd boys.

O Krsna, the pious flute continuously drinks the nectar of Your lips, and Vrndavana has become glorious because it bears the markings of Your beautiful lotus-feet.

No Mind

"As you go more deeply into this realm of no-mind, this sense of your own presence, you realize the state of pure consciousness. You feel your own presence with such intensity and such joy that all thinking, all emotions, your physical body become relatively insignificant in comparison to it. A new dimension of consciousness has come in. And yet this is not a selfish but a selfless state. It takes you beyond what you previously thought of as your self." ~ Eckhart Tolle

Shiva the Supreme is:

Shiva the Supreme is...
—————————- ——

1. Supreme Soul .

2. Incorporeal point of light.

3. Worshipped in the oval or egg-shaped form of the Shivalinga.

4. Worshipped as the Supreme Father of all deities and of Rama and Krishna.

5.  We Always say “Satyam Shivam Sundaram”  means Satya hi shiv hai . God is Truth.

6.   ” Om Namah Shivay..”    the great redeeming mantra.

7.   Known as Trimurti, the creator of the three subtle deities — Brahma, Vishnu and Shankar.

8.  The three lines marked on the Shivalinga symbolise His triple characteristics of Trimurti:

i. Trinetri — the one with the third eye of wisdom .
ii. Trikaldarshi — the one who sees the three aspects of time.
iii.  Trilokinath — the lord of three worlds.
9.  Shiva is also known as Shambhu or Swayambhu and Sadashiva meaning that Shiva is the eternal Soul who has no creator above Him.

10 . Sanskrit meaning:

शिव bliss
शिव favourable
शिव gracious
शिव benign
शिव  kind
शिव  friendly
शिव  benignant

Shankar the Deity :
—————————-

1. Shankar has a human form residing in the subtle world region called Sankarpuri..

2. he is responsible for destruction of the old world order.

3. In some paintings and sculptures, Shankar is shown meditating in front of the Shiva Linga, which also indicates that the two are different from each other.

The festival of Shivratri symbolises the divine incarnation of Shiva on this earth. The night indicates the moral degradation in souls that sets in due to the ignorance in this world. The true fasting (upvaas plus close company) on Shivratri is that we link our intellect with Shiva and stay in His company. The true Jagran or awakening means to awaken from the slumber of ignorance and to protect the self from the negative influence of vices such as lust, anger, greed and ego. Absolute formless God, Sadashiva appeared in the form of Lingodbhav Moorti exactly at midnight on Shivratri. With all this insight into the Supreme Soul Shiva, let us all celebrate Shivratri and know its spiritual significance
