~Krishna~

“If you take a risk for Krishna,” Prabhupada said, “even if you stand to lose everything, Krishna comes to help and protect. Just like Arjuna. Because Krishna was there with him on the battlefield, he came out victorious. Krishna always protects his devotee.”…Don’t fret, he said, or think you have to find solutions on your own. Your talent is not ordinary karma. It has a special purpose and Krishna will help you to fulfill it....."

Paramahansa Yogananda jee on Death

When a dear one dies, instead of grieving unreasonably, realize that he has gone on to a higher plane at the will of God, and that God knows what is best for him. Rejoice that he is free. Pray that your love and goodwill be messengers of encouragement to him on his forward path. This attitude is much more helpful. Of course, we would not be human if we did not miss loved ones; but in feeling lonesome for them we don't want selfish attachment to be the cause of keeping them earthbound. Extreme sorrow prevents a departed soul from going ahead toward greater peace and freedom.

Most of the people living on earth today were not here a hundred years ago. Others were here before us. And we who are now walking the streets of the world will not be here a hundred years hence. It will be all over for us, and the new generation will not give us a thought. They will feel, as we do now, that this world belongs to them; but one by one they too will all be taken away. Death must be good, otherwise God would not have ordained that it happen to everyone. Why live in fear of it?

~

When you reflect that this world is filled with death, and that your body, too, has to be relinquished, God's plan seems very cruel. You can't imagine that He is merciful. But when you look at the process of death with the eye of wisdom, you see that after all it is merely a thought of God passing through a nightmare of change into blissful freedom in Him again. Saint and sinner alike are given freedom at death, to a greater or lesser degree according to merit. In the Lord's dream astral world"*— the land to which souls go at death—they enjoy a freedom such as they never knew during their earthly life. So don't pity the person who is passing through the delusion of death, for in a little while he will be free. Once he gets out of that delusion, he sees that death was not so bad after all. He realizes his mortality was only a dream and rejoices that now no fire can burn him, no water can drown him; he is free and safe.

~

Death is not a blotting-out of existence, a final escape from life; nor is death the door to immortality. He who has fled his Self in earthly joys will not recapture It amidst the gossamer charms of an astral world. There he merely accumulates finer perceptions and more sensitive responses to the beautiful and the good, which are one. It is on the anvil of this gross earth that struggling man must hammer out the imperishable gold of spiritual identity.
Take life as it comes and death as it comes. Death is really beautiful; if it were a bad thing, God would not let it happen to us. It is really freedom, an entry into another, higher life. We must utilize this life in order to realize the life beyond this one. Beyond this earth garden is the infinite land wherein we meet those whom we have thought lost. Although we must not seek death, when it comes we should know that it is the final examination for a great reward.
~
To the last day of your life, be positive; try to be cheerful. Even at the very end, don't think, "I am finished." Instead of pitying yourself, you should be thinking, "O ye who are left on this desolate shore still to mourn and deplore, it is I who pity you." Death will not give you any trouble if you have a clear conscience; and if you go with this thought: "Lord, I am in Thy hands."
~
Dismiss this phantasma of disease and health, sorrow and joy. Rise above it. Become the Self. Watch the show of the universe, but do not become absorbed in it. Many times I have seen my body gone from this world.
~
Death is not as terrible as you think. It comes to you as a healer. Sleep is nothing but a counterfeit death. What happens in death we can picture in sleep. All our sufferings vanish in sleep. When death comes, all our mortal tortures cease; they cannot go beyond the portals of death.
~
From joy people are born; for joy they live; in joy they melt at death. Death is an ecstasy, for it removes the burden of the body and frees the soul of all pain springing from body identification. It is the cessation of pain and sorrow.
~
At physical death man loses his consciousness of the flesh and becomes conscious of his astral body in the astral world. Thus physical death is astral birth. Later, he passes from the consciousness of luminous astral birth to the consciousness of dark astral death and awakens in a new physical body. Thus astral death is physical birth. These recurrent cycles of physical and astral encasements are the ineluctable destiny of all unenlightened men.
~

Births and deaths are inevitable for man only during the state of ignorance in which he thinks he is the body and cannot exist without it. Only the man who will not seek the awakening of wisdom must suffer the nightmares and delusive dreams of births and deaths and the fanciful miseries and limitations attending them.  Natural death — that is, in old age, or whenever the soul is ready to change its mortal form — is just like the falling of ripe fruit from the tree, of its own accord, without the resistance that green fruit exhibits when being pulled down by a storm or other great force. But in premature death—through disease, accident, or other causes — the soul puts up strong resistance; hence acute agony is witnessed in the body.* In this tumult and struggle of consciousness, there is a great sorrow, a sense of helplessness; and the soul's deluded nature finally becomes unconscious as death occurs, like the onset of deep sleep.** This helplessness during death is mistakenly supposed by some to be a punishment from God. As a matter of fact, it is just a working out of the soul's persistent, self-created bad habit of being identified with change, instead of regarding bodily changes as a means of expressing itself

~
We fear death because of pain, and because of the thought that we may become obliterated. This idea is erroneous. Jesus showed himself in a physical form to his disciples after his death. Lahiri Mahasaya returned in the flesh the next day after he had entered mahasamadhi. They proved that they were not destroyed. ...
People also fear death because they have been in this cage of flesh so long that they feel timid about leaving its security. But it is foolish to be afraid. Just think, no more repaired tires on the body vehicle, no more patchwork living. Since it is the Lord's desire that we should have this old model until death comes, we have to keep it and take care of it.
~
We don't become angels merely by the instrument of death. If we are angels now, we will be angels in the hereafter. If we are dark, negative personalities now, we will be the same after death.
~
To face death itself should not daunt you. Fear of death is ridiculous, because as long as you are not dead you are alive, and when you are dead there is noting more to worry about!
~
Those who look at the surface of the sea must behold the birth and death of the waves, but those who seek the depths of the ocean behold one indivisible mass of water. Similarly, those who acknowledge "life" and "death" are tossed by sorrow, while those who live in the illimitable superconsciousness behold and feel the One Ineffable Bliss.
An adept of Kriya Yoga conquers death by taking the soul beyond identification with the physical body, consciously and at will; and then returning to the consciousness of the mortal form again. By this process, he experiences the body as merely the material dwelling place of the soul. He can remain therein as long as he wants; and after that body has fulfilled its usefulness, he can quit it at will without suffering physical pain or mental pain due to attachment, and enter his omnipresent home in God.
~
The greatest dread of ordinary man is death, with its rude imposition interrupting fortuitous plans and fondest attachments with an unknown and unwelcome change. The yogi is a conqueror of the grief associated with death. By control of mind and life force and the development of wisdom, he makes friends with the change of consciousness called death—he becomes familiar with the state of inner calmness and aloofness from identification with the mortal body.
~
Life and death are but a passing from dream to dream. They are only thoughts: you are dreaming you are alive, and you are dreaming you are dead. When you get into the great Christ Consciousness, you see that life and death are dreams of God.

At the time of death a yogi reaches the Supreme Effulgent Lord if, with love and by the power of yoga, he fully penetrates his life force between the eyebrows (the seat of the spiritual eye), and if he fixes his mind unwaveringly on the Being who, beyond all delusions of darkness, shines like the sun—the One whose form is unimaginable, subtler than the finest atom, the Supporter of all, the Great Ruler, eternal and omniscient.
~The Bhagavad GitaVIII:9-10~
ॐ🙏
Pointed out in these verses are the three qualifications by which a great yogi passes from his physical body into the Divine Essence.
First, love of God.
Second, mastery of that kingly science, Kriya Yoga , by which he can usher his consciousness into the Infinite through the agency of the "single eye" in the forehead.
Third, perfect control of the mind , made possible through constancy in yoga, that enables him to place his thought undeviatingly on the Lord at the time of death—an hour whose finality is always known in advance by a true yogi.

~A sufi story~

🎶🌾🌼🌻🌿🌻☘🍁💐🌾🍁 🎶🌾🌼🌻🌿🌻☘🍁💐🍁
A dervish who had traveled long and hard through the desert finally came to civilization after a long journey. The village was called Sandy Hills, and it was dry and hot… . The dervish politely asked … where he could find food and lodging for the night. “Well,” said the man, scratching his head, “we don’t have such a place in our village, but I am sure Shakir would be happy to provide for you tonight.” Then the man gave directions to the ranch owned by Shakir, whose name means “one who thanks the Lord constantly.” …… As it turned out, Shakir was a very hospitable and kind person. He insisted that the dervish stay a couple of days in his house….At the end of his stay, they even supplied him with plenty of food and water for the journey. On his way back to the desert, the dervish could not help puzzling over the meaning of Shakir’s last words at the time of farewell. The dervish had said, “Thank God that you are well off.”… Shakir had replied, “Don’t be fooled by appear- ances, for this too shall pass.”
During his years on the Sufi path the dervish had come to understand that anything he heard or saw during his journey offered a lesson to be learned and thus was worthy of contemplation. In fact, that was the reason he had undertaken the journey in the first place—to learn more… .And so he passed five more years of traveling to different lands, meeting new people, and learning from his experiences along the way. Every adventure offered a new lesson to be learned… .

One day, the dervish found himself returning to Sandy Hills, the same village at which he had stopped a few years before. He remembered his friend Shakir and asked after him. “He lives in the neighboring village, ten miles from here. He now works for Haddad,” a villager answered… . Happy at the prospect of seeing Shakir again, [the dervish] rushed toward the neighboring village. At Haddad’s marvelous home, the dervish was greeted by Shakir, who looked much older now and was dressed in rags. “What happened to you?” the dervish wanted to know. Shakir replied that a flood … had left him with no cattle and no house. So he and his family had become servants of Haddad… . This turn of fortune, however, had not changed the kind and friendly manner of Shakir and his family. They graciously took care of the dervish … and gave him food and water before he left. As he was leaving, the dervish said, “I am so sorry for what has happened to you and your fam- ily. I know that God has a reason for what He does.” “Oh, but remember, this too shall pass.”Shakir’s voice kept echoing in the dervish’s ears. The man’s smiling face and calm spirit never left his mind… .…
The dervish traveled to India. Upon returning to his homeland, Persia, he decided to visit Shakir one more time… . But instead of finding his friend Shakir there, he was shown a modest grave with the inscription, “This too shall pass.” … “Riches come and go,” thought the dervish to himself, “but how can a tomb change?”
From that time on, the dervish made it a point to visit the tomb of his friend every year… . However, on one of his visits, he found the cemetery and the grave gone, washed away by the flood… . He lifted his head to the sky and, as if discovering a greater meaning, … said, “This too shall pass.”

When the dervish had finally become too old to travel, he decided to settle down… . People came from all over to have the benefit of his wisdom. Eventually his fame spread to the king’s great advisor, who happened to be looking for someone with great wisdom. The fact was, the king desired a ring be made for him. The ring was to be a special one: it was to carry an inscription such that if the king was sad, he could look at the ring and it would make him happy, and if he was happy, … it would make him sad… . Many men and women came forward with suggestions for the ring, but the king liked none of them. So the advisor wrote to the dervish … ask-ing for help… . A few days later, an emerald ring was made and presented to the king. The king, who had been depressed for days, reluctantly put the ring on his finger… . Then he started to smile, and a few mo- ments later, he was laughing loudly. On the ring were inscribed the words, “This too shall pass.”

Gentleness,Constancy,Courage

~Gentleness~
If trees had souls, the quality most attributable to them would be gentleness. Gentleness is not a lack of strength but a quality which doesn’t disturb, doesn’t push, yet knows its power and can provide shelter. There are souls who are like tress, enormous in their thinking and yet completely gentle.
~Constancy~
There is a part of you that is perfect and pure. It is untouched by the less than perfect characteristics you’ve acquired by living in a less than perfect world. It is filled with divine qualities, so is in a constant state of resourcefulness and well-being. Its total absence of conflict and negativity of any sort makes this part of you a Still-Point…a deep, enriching experience of Silence. Make time to practice reaching this inner place of Silence. It will bring you untold benefit.
Acceptance is the secret of contentment. Appreciation is the secret of happiness.
~Courage~
Do not become discouraged in the face of adversity. Understand that the bigger the heart, the bigger the obstacles it is asked to accomodate.

Moi Vinni~ Papa

"Moi Vinni~Papa...You taught moi to endure everything in silence without complaining. So I perceived all that was happening to moi in life, all the overwhelming troubles that struck not as a punishment but as penance of moi past life karmas. Its because of you i have developed a very good attitude towards adversity, and have realized that this is a test and a pre~condition that a serious seeker has to undergo to establish firm faith in their divine~guru and this is quite a definite method of discarding an ego.Through the worst adversities and pains, you made moi learn to unconditionally accept God as the Supreme Power in the Universe, the real maker and doer of all things seen and unseen.Suffering through the devastating blow of your going,I feel I'am being bleached and purified,so i surrender willingly at his holy feet,to be recharged and energized by Divine Light towards moi liberation.
Papa...I now Listen for the Sound of your messages in everything i now encounter.Your last words(quote) of courage to moi were....

"You may be the only person left who believes in you, but it's enough. It takes just one star to pierce a universe of darkness, Never give up....darling Dipssy of mine

"No truth can cure the sorrow we feel from losing a loved one. No truth, no sincerity, no strength, no kindness can cure that sorrow. All we can do is see it through to the end and learn something from it, but what we learn will be no help in facing the next sorrow that comes to us without warning.”

You know,I still get a lot of hugs, but none of them as warm as yours.I miss you popsie. You taught me to be strong but sorry I’m letting you down…I can never be strong enough to accept that you are no longer here.Yet,How ironic is it that I wasted all these years not 'really' listening to you,But now that you’re not here,I’m trying, living moi life exactly how you told me to,your those advices are still helping me connect moi life’s dots,Even though you are not in front of moi eyes right now, your smiling picture in moi heart will remain beautifully pristine forever.Oh I miss you so so terribly....the tears roll down my cheeks unbidden...Just one last chance,I wish I could get to hug you. Then I would hold you tight and never let go into the cruel hands of Death...

Anger ~

Buddha seemed quite unruffled by the insults hurled at him by a visitor. When his disciples later asked him what the secret of his serenity was, he said:
“Imagine what would happen if someone placed an offering before you and you did not pick it up. Or someone sent you a letter that you refused to open; you would be unaffected by its contents, would you not? Do this each time you are abused and you will not lose your serenity.”

~Prem~ by Osho

Prem means love and patanga is a special moth that is very much attracted to fire, flame, and whenever there is flame the moth will come and jump into it. Its only love is fire. And hence the name 'patanga' has become a metaphor in the east -- a metaphor for the lover. A lover has to be like the moth -- ready to jump into fire, ready to die, ready to disappear. God is the flame and the seeker has to be the moth... if It is there, it is just like a small drop; it can become an ocean, it can become bigger than you. And when it is bigger than you and when you are drowned in it, you have arrived. It is there just like a small drop trickling but it can grow: all great rivers arise out of a small drop trickling. The ocean is nothing but drops and drops and drops. Right now it is a small drop like a small seed but it can become a big tree. One just has to be a little more careful about it, more conscious of it, more protective of it. It can be destroyed by carelessness; many people's love for god is destroyed by carelessness… Prem Birgitta. Prem means love; birgitta means strength, power, energy. Love makes you strong, makes you powerful, because love transforms your possibilities into actualities. It transforms the seed into a sprout, it transforms the potential into the real. Without love one is empty, with love one is overflowing. Without love one is a beggar, with love one is an emperor…

A parable from "Far Beyond the Stars "(A Darshan Diary)

There is a parable in Friedrich Nietzsche’s ‘Thus spake Zarathustra’…. Zarathustra comes down from the mountains and he meets an old hermit who is praying to god.
Zarathustra laughs and says, “Have you not heard the news that god is dead? To whom are you praying? You surprise me! Have you not heard the news — that god is dead?”The hermit is puzzled. What nonsense is this man talking?
The hermit is shocked and doesn’t say a single word. Zarathustra looks at him and he says, “It seems I have come a little early; the news has not arrived. And the wonder of wonder is that it is you people who have killed him… and yet the news has not arrived? Man has killed god and the news has not yet reached man. It takes time…”And Zarathustra is right , somewhere in the unconscious, man has killed god. Not that he has killed god , how can you kill god?  but he has become godless, that is the meaning.
And it is not suddenly this century that has become godless, it has been coming and coming for three, four centuries. For three, four centuries the human unconscious has been preparing the ground for godlessness.Marx and Freud and all kinds and all sorts of people have been working hard to make man godless. And now when it has happened even man is puzzled, even priests are puzzled ,and they have been the murderers. They are puzzled, very much puzzled: what has happened?
Their hands are red with god’s blood, they are the most responsible people, but even they are puzzled because the news has not reached them yet.

~A Misers Offerings~

Long ago, there lived a rich old man who was a lecher and skinflint by nature. He lusted after pleasure but couldn’t bear to part with his money. One twilit evening, with the clouds tinged a delicate rosy shade and a light breeze blowing, the old man was in his garden. The cones on the old pine tree rustled gently and, in this scene of tranquility, the old miser was overcome by a hankering for lamb.Suddenly, a brainwave! He had an idea how to eat as much lamb as he wanted without paying for it and without losing face. The old man told his servant to bring his sons to him. When his sons arrived, they found their father in a posture of prayer, solemnly intoning, “Tree Spirit! Tree Spirit! Please continue to bless this house! Please bless us! Please bless us!”Then, the old man turned around and exclaimed, “My sons! Why are we so blessed? Verily because of this old pine tree! You should offer sacrifices to the Tree Spirit every year.” The young men followed their father’s injunction, and immediately slaughtered a great number of lambs, and moreover, built a shrine for offering sacrifices to the Tree Spirit. As he had intended, the old man was soon supping on lamb and felt most satisfied with himself.Year by year, the old man weakened, and at last he fell gravely ill. Just before the end, he dreamed that a herd of sheep came and demanded his life. As a result, in his next life he became a lamb in his very own flock of sheep. When the day of worship came round again, the old man’s sons chose to sacrifice the lamb which was actually their father’s new incarnation. Only now did remorse enter the old man’s heart: “My sons! This old pine tree is just an old pine tree. I just wanted to satisfy my appetite. Please don’t keep piling wrong on wrong; otherwise, there can be no escape from suffering.” Just at the moment the old man’s sons picked up their butcher’s knives, an Arhat passed by begging for food and prevented the slaughter.
Pointing to the lamb, the Arhat said, “Don’t kill it! This lamb is your father!”Through divine power, the sons saw the lamb’s previous incarnation. Seeing this, the old man’s sons could not contain their tears and swore the oath, “From now on, I will never kill! I will only do good deeds to plant the fields of blessings, and make offerings to the Three Jewels.”

~A Sufi parable~

A man used to call every night to God and he would pray the same prayer. Again and again he would ask, “Do one favor for me, at least one favor — and I have been asking my whole life. As far as I can see, I am the most miserable man on the earth. Why have you chosen me to be the most miserable? I am ready to exchange my misery with anybody else, anybody will do — just let me exchange my misery with somebody else. I don’t ask for bliss. Can’t you give me only this single opportunity to exchange my misery with somebody else? This is not asking much!”And one night in a dream he saw God had spoken. A great voice came from the heavens saying, “Gather all of your miseries into bundles and bring them to the temple hall.”So the whole town gathers their miseries into big bundles and they bring them. This man is tremendously happy: “So the moment has come! It seems something is going to happen!”He rushes with his bundle. On the way he finds others also are rushing. By the time he reaches to the temple he becomes afraid, very afraid, because he sees people are carrying bigger bundles than his. People that he had always seen smiling — Rotarians, Lions — in beautiful clothes and always saying nice things to each other, and they are carrying bigger bundles! He starts becoming a little hesitant whether to go or not to go, but he has been praying his whole life, so he says, “Let us see what happens.”
They enter into the temple. The voice says, “Put your bundles around the hall.” They put their bundles, and the voice says again, “Now you can choose any bundle that you like.”And the miracle of miracles happens: everybody rushes to his own bundle! This man also rushes so fast towards his own bundle, afraid that if somebody else chooses it then he will be at a loss. Everybody has chosen his own bundle, with great relief and they are all happy, carrying their bundles back to their homes. Even this man is very happy, for the simple reason that “Who knows what is in the other’s bundle? At least we are aware of our own bundle and what it contains. And we have become accustomed, we have become adjusted to our misery.”
