हृदय


एक महल के द्वार पर भीड़ लगी थी।
किसी फकीर ने राजा से भीख मांगी थी।
राजा ने
उससे कहा था जो भी चाहते हो मांग लो।
वह राजा जो भी सुबह सबसे पहले उससे
भीख
मांगता था वह उसे इच्छित वस्तु देता
था। उस दिन वह भिखारी सबसे पहले
राजा के महल
पहुंचा था। फकीर ने राजा के आगे
अपना छोटा सा पात्र बढ़ाया और बोला
इसे सोने की
मुद्राओं से भर दो। राजा ने उसके
पात्र में स्वर्ण मुद्राएं डाली तो
उसे पता चला की वह
पात्र जादुई है। जितनी अधिक
मुद्राएं उसमें डाली गई वह उतना
अधिक खाली होता गया।
फकीर बोला नहीं भर सकें तो वैसा बोल
दे मैं खाली पात्र लेकर चला जाउंगा।
ज्यादा से
ज्यादा लोग यही कहेंगे कि राजा अपना
वचन पूरा नहीं कर सका। राजा ने अपना
सारा
खजाने खाली कर दियें,लेकिन खाली
पात्र खाली ही था। उसके पास जो कुछ
था, सब उस
पात्र में डाल दिया गया लेकिन वह
पात्र न भरा तो न भरा। तब राजा ने
पूछा भिक्षु
तुम्हारा पात्र साधारण नहीं है।
इसे भरना मेरे बस की बात नहीं हैं।
क्या मैं पूछ सकता हुं
कि इस पात्र का रहस्य क्या है? कोई
विशेष रहस्य नहीं है यह इंसान के
हृदय से बना है।
क्या आपको पता नहीं है कि मनुष्य का
हृदय कभी नहीं भरता धन से, पद से,
ज्ञान से,
किसी से भी नहीं, किसी से भी भरो वह
खाली ही रहेगा। क्योंकि वह इन चीजों
से भरने के
लिए बना ही नहीं है। इस सत्य को न
जानने के कारण ही इंसान जितना पाता
है उतना ही
दरिद्र होता जाता है। इंसान का हृदय
कुछ भी पाकर शांत नहीं होता क्यों?
क्योंकि हृदय
परमात्मा को पाने के लिए बना है।

कान्हा और राधा

लम्बे समय के बाद श्री कृष्ण राधा जी से मिले तो राधा जी ने पूछा,"कैसे हो द्वारकाधीश"

जो राधा उनको कान्हा-कान्हा कह कर बुलाती थी। उसके मुख से निकला द्वारकाधीश नाम का तीर उन्हें अन्दर तक घायल कर गया और वह थोड़ा संभलकर बोले,"हे राधे! तुम्हारे लिए तो मैं आज भी कान्हा हूं। तुम क्यों मुझे द्वारकाधीश कहती हो,तुम द्वारकाधीश राजा के नहीं बल्कि उसी मुरली वाले कान्हा के दिल में रहती हो।

इस पर राधा बोली,"अगर तुम कान्हा होते तो सुदर्शन की जगह प्रेम वाली मुरली लेकर आते। अगर कुछ कड़वे सच सुन पाओ तो कान्हा से द्वारकाधीश तक के सफर का एक आइना देखना चाहते हो।जिस उंगली से गोवर्धन उठाकर कान्हा ने हजारों लोगों को बचाया,अब उसी उंगली से सुदर्शन उड़ा कर द्वारिकाधीश ने हजारों लोगों को रुलाया ,एक उंगली से चलने वाले सुदर्शन पर भरोसा कर लिया और दस ऊंगली से चलने वाली मुरलियों को भुला दिया। अरे कान्हा और द्वारिकाधीश में क्या अंतर होता है जानना चाहते हो।"

-तुम सुदामा के घर जाते सुदामा तुम्हारे घर नहीं आता।

-अगर तुम कान्हा होते तुम तो सभी शास्त्रों के ज्ञाता हो ,गीता जैसे ग्रन्थ के दाता हो ,पर महाभारत युद्ध में ये क्या कर गए ,अपनी पूरी सेना कौरवों को सौंप और स्वंय को पांडवो के साथ हो लिए ,सेना तो आपकी प्रजा थी और राजा उसका रक्षक होता है लेकिन इस प्रजा का रक्षक उस रथ को चला रहा था, जिस पर बैठा अर्जुन उसकी प्रजा को ही सुला रहा था ,अपनी प्रजा को मरते देख आपमें करुणा जाग जाती।

- अगर तुम कान्हा होते आज भी धरती पर अपनी द्वारिकाधीश वाली छवि को ढूंढ़ते रह जाओगे ,हर घर में हर मंदिर में मेरे साथ ही खड़े नजर आओगे ,आज भी लोग तुम्हारी पूजा करते है, गीता का पाठ करते है ,पर लोग युद्ध वाले द्वारिकाधीश पर नहीं, प्रेम वाले कान्हा पर भरोसा करते हैं।

- जिस गीता में मेरा दूर-दूर तक भी जिक्र नहीं,आज भी लोग उसके समापन पर राधे-राधे करते है
- कौरवो पांडवो में युद्ध नहीं बल्कि समझौते होते।

The Queen's Necklace ~ A Jataka story ~

Mahasara Jataka: The Queen's Necklace (Jat 92) 
The Buddha told this story at Jetavana Monastery about the Venerable Ananda.

One day the wives of the King of Kosala were talking together, saying, "It is very rare for a Buddha to appear in the world," they said. "It is also rare to be born a human being. We have been born humans during a Buddha's lifetime, but we are not free to go to the monastery to pay our respects, to hear his teaching, and to make offerings to him. We might as well be living in a cage as in this palace. Let's ask the king to allow someone to come here to teach us the Dhamma. We should learn what we can, be charitable, and do good works. In that way we will truly benefit from living at this happy time!" They went to the king and made their request. The king listened and gave his consent.

That same morning, the king decided to enjoy himself in the royal gardens, so he gave orders that the grounds should be prepared. As the gardener was finishing, he saw the Buddha seated at the foot of a tree. He immediately went to the king and reported that everything was ready, but that the Buddha was there sitting under a tree.

"Very good," said the king, "we will go and hear the Master." Then he went to the garden by royal chariot.

When he got there, he found a lay disciple, Chattapani, sitting at the Buddha's feet, listening to his words. When the king saw this lay disciple, he hesitated. Realizing, however, that this must be a virtuous man, or he would not be sitting by the Buddha for instruction, the king approached, bowed, and seated himself on one side.

Out of his profound respect for the Buddha, Chattapani neither rose to honor the king nor saluted him. This made the king very angry.

Aware of the king's displeasure, the Buddha praised the merits of the layman, who had, in fact, entered the path of non-returning. "Sire," the Buddha said, "this lay disciple knows by heart the scriptures that have been handed down, and he has set himself free from the bondage of passion."

"Surely," the king thought, "this can be no ordinary person who is being so praised by the Buddha." He turned to Chattapani and said, "Let me know if you are in need of anything."

"Thank you," Chattapani replied.

The king listened to the Master's teaching. When it was time, he rose and left ceremoniously.

A few days later, the king met Chattapani again as he was on his way to Jetavana and had him summoned. "I hear, sir, that you are a man of great learning. My wives are eager to hear the truth. I would be very glad to have you teach them."

"It would not be proper, sire, for a layman to expound the truth in the king's harem. That is the prerogative of the bhikkhus."

The king immediately realized that this was correct, so he called his wives together and announced that he would ask the Buddha to appoint one of the elders to become their instructor in the Doctrine. He asked them which of the eighty chief disciples they would prefer. The women unanimously chose Ananda, the Treasurer of the Doctrine.

The king went to the Buddha, greeted him courteously, sat down, and stated his wives' wish that Ananda might be their teacher. The Buddha assented, and the Venerable Ananda began teaching the king's wives regularly.

One day, when Ananda arrived at the palace as usual, he found that the women, who had always before been so attentive, were all troubled and agitated. "What's wrong?" he asked. "Why do you seem anxious today?"

"Oh, venerable sir," they replied, "the jewel from the king's turban is missing. He has called his ministers and ordered them to apprehend the thief and to find the jewel without fail. They are interrogating and searching everybody, even all of us women. The entire court is in an uproar, and we have no idea what might happen next to any of us. That is why we are so unhappy."

"Don't worry," said Ananda cheerfully, as he went to find the king.

Taking the seat which the king prepared for him, Ananda asked if it was true that his majesty had lost his jewel.

"Quite true, venerable sir," said the king. "I have had everyone in the palace searched and questioned, but I can find no trace of the gem."

"There is a way to find it, sire," Ananda said, "without upsetting people unnecessarily."

"What way is that, venerable sir?"

"By wisp-giving, sire."

"Wisp-giving?" asked the king. "What do you mean?"

"Call everyone you suspect," Ananda instructed, "and give him or her a wisp of straw. Say to each of them, 'Take this and put it in a certain place before daybreak tomorrow.' The person who took the jewel will be afraid of getting caught and will give the gem back with the straw. If it is not returned on the first day, the same thing must be done for one or two more days. You will undoubtedly get your jewel back." With these words, the elder departed.

Following Ananda's advice, the king distributed straw and designated the place where it was to be returned. Even though he did this for three days, the jewel was not recovered. On the third day the elder came again and asked whether the jewel had been returned.

"No, venerable sir," replied the king, "it has not."

"In that case, sire," Ananda said, "have a large waterpot filled with water and placed in a secluded corner of your courtyard. Put a screen around it, and give orders that all who frequent the palace, both men and women, are to take off their outer garments and, one by one, to step behind the screen and wash their hands." Again the king did exactly as Ananda had suggested.

"Ananda has seriously taken charge of the matter," thought the thief. "He is not going to stop until the jewel is found. The time has come to give it up." He concealed the jewel in his underclothes, went behind the screen, and dropped it in the water. After everyone had finished, the pot was emptied, and the jewel was found.

"Because of the Elder Ananda," exclaimed the king joyfully, "I have gotten my jewel back!"

"Because of the Elder Ananda," exclaimed all the residents of the palace, "we have been saved from a lot of trouble!"

The story of how his wisdom had returned the jewel spread throughout the city and reached Jetavana Monastery.

A few days later, while the bhikkhus were talking together in the Hall of Truth, one of them said, "The great wisdom of the Elder Ananda led to recovering the lost jewel and restoring calm to the palace." While all of them were singing the praises of Ananda, the Buddha entered and asked the subject of their conversation.

"Monks," he said after they had told him, "this is not the first time that stolen gems have been found, nor is Ananda the only one who has brought about such a discovery. In bygone days, too, the wise and good discovered stolen valuables and saved a lot of people from trouble." Then he proceeded to tell this story of the past.

Long, long ago, when Brahmadatta was reigning in Baranasi, the Bodhisatta completed his education and became one of the king's ministers. One day the king went with a large retinue to his pleasure garden. After walking about the woods for a while, he decided to enjoy himself in the water and sent for his harem. The women removed their jewels and outer garments, laid them in boxes for their attendants to look after, and joined the king in the royal tank.
As the queen was taking off her jewels and ornaments, a female monkey that was hiding in the branches of a nearby tree watched her intently. The monkey conceived a longing to wear the queen's pearl necklace and waited for a chance to snatch it. At first the queen's attendant stayed alert, looking all around to protect the jewels, but after a while she began to nod. As soon as the monkey saw this, she jumped down as swift as the wind. Then just as swiftly she leaped up into the tree with the pearls around her neck. Fearing that other monkeys would see her treasure, she hid the string of pearls in a hole in the tree and sat demurely keeping guard as though nothing had happened.

By and by the girl awoke and saw that the jewels were gone. Terrified at her own negligence, she shouted, "A man has run off with the queen's pearl necklace!"

Sentries ran up from every side and questioned her. The king ordered his guards to catch the thief, and they rushed around the pleasure garden, searching high and low. A poor timid peasant who happened to be nearby became frightened when he heard the uproar and started to run away.

"There he goes!" cried the guards. They chased the poor man, caught him, began beating him, and asked why he stole such precious jewels.

The peasant thought, "If I deny the charge, these brutes will beat me to death. I'd better say I took them." He immediately confessed to the theft and was hauled off in chains to the king.

"Did you take those precious jewels?" asked the king.

"Yes, your majesty."

"Where are they now?"

"Your majesty, I'm a poor man," he explained. "I've never owned anything of any value, not even a bed or a chair, much less a jewel. It was the treasurer who made me take that expensive necklace. I took it and gave it to him. He knows all about it."

The king sent for the treasurer, and asked whether the peasant had passed the necklace on to him.

Also afraid to deny the charge, the treasurer answered, "Yes, sire."

"Where is it then?"

"I gave it to your majesty's high priest."

The high priest was sent for, and interrogated in the same way. He said he had given it to the chief musician, who in his turn said he had given it as a present to a courtesan. The courtesan, however, utterly denied having received it and the questioning continued until sunset.

"It's too late now," said the king, "we will look into this tomorrow." He handed the suspects over to his officers and went back into the city.

The Bodhisatta began thinking, "These jewels were lost inside the grounds, but the peasant was outside. There was a strong guard at the gate. It would have been impossible for anyone inside to have gotten away with the necklace. I don't see how a person, inside or out, could have stolen it. I don't believe that any of these five had anything to do with it, but I understand why they falsely confessed and implicated the others. As for the necklace, these grounds are swarming with monkeys. It must have been one of the female monkeys that took it."

Having arrived at this conclusion, the minister went to the king and requested that the suspects be handed over to him so that he could look into the matter personally.

"By all means, my wise friend," said the king, "go ahead."

The minister ordered his servants to take charge of the five prisoners. "Keep strict watch over them," he said. "I want you to listen to everything they say and report it all to me."

As the prisoners sat together, the treasurer said to the peasant, "Tell me, you wretch, where you and I have ever met before today. How could you have given me that necklace?"

"Honorable sir," said the peasant, "I have never owned anything valuable. Even the stool and the cot I have are rickety. I said what I did because I thought that with your help I would get out of this trouble. Please don't be angry with me, sir."

"Well then," the high priest indignantly asked the treasurer, "how did you pass on to me what this fellow never gave to you?"

"I said that," explained the treasurer, "because I thought that you and I, both being high ranking officials, would be able to get out of trouble together."

"Brahman," the chief musician asked the high priest, "when do you think you gave the jewel to me?"

"I only said I did," answered the chaplain, "because I thought you would help to make the time in prison pass more agreeably."

Finally the courtesan complained, "You wretch of a musician, you have never visited me, and I have never visited you. When could you have given me the necklace?"

"Don't be angry, my dear." said the musician. "I just wanted you to be here to keep us company. Cheer up! Let's all be lighthearted together for a while."

As soon as his servants had reported this conversation to the Bodhisatta, he saw that all his suspicions were correct. He was convinced that a female monkey had taken the necklace.

"Now I must find a way to make her drop it," he said to himself. He ordered his servants to catch some monkeys, to deck them out with strings of beads, and then to release them again in the pleasure garden. The men were to carefully watch every monkey in the grounds. As soon as they saw one wearing the missing pearl necklace, they were to frighten her into dropping it.

The monkeys strutted about with their beads strung around their necks, their wrists, and their ankles. They flaunted their splendor in front of the guilty monkey, who sat quietly guarding her treasure. At last, jealousy overcame her prudence. "Those are only beads!" she screeched, and foolishly put on her own necklace of real pearls. As soon as the servants saw this, they began making loud noises and throwing things at her. The monkey became so frightened that she dropped the necklace and scampered away. The men took it to their master.

The minister immediately took it to the king. "Here, sire," he said, "is the queen's necklace. The five prisoners are innocent. It was a female monkey in the pleasure garden that took it."

"Wonderful!" exclaimed the king. "But, tell me, how did you find that out? And how did you manage to get it back?"

When he had heard the whole story, the king praised his minister. "You certainly are the right man in the right place!" he proclaimed. In appreciation, the king showered the minister with immeasurable treasure.

The king continued to follow the Bodhisatta's advice and counsel. After a long life of generosity and meritorious acts, he passed away to fare according to his deserts.

His lesson ended, the Buddha again praised Venerable Ananda's merits, and identified the birth. "Ananda was the king of those days," he said, "and I was his wise counselor."

"ॐ"
केवल एक पवित्र ध्वनि ही नहीं, अपितु अनंत शक्ति का प्रतीक है।
ॐ अर्थात् ओउम् तीन अक्षरों से बना है, जो सर्व विदित है। अ उ म् ।

"अ" का अर्थ है आर्विभाव या उत्पन्न होना , "उ" का तात्पर्य हैउठना, उड़ना अर्थात् विकास, "म" का मतलब है मौन हो जाना अर्थात्"ब्रह्मलीन" हो जाना । ॐ सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड की उत्पत्ति औरपूरी सृष्टि का द्योतक है।

ॐ धर्म, अर्थ, काम, मोक्ष इन चारों पुरुषार्थों का प्रदायक है। मात्र ॐ का जप कर कई साधकों ने अपने उद्देश्य की प्राप्ति कर ली।

कोशीत की ऋषि निस्संतान थे, संतान प्राप्ति के लिए उन्होंने सूर्य का ध्यान कर ॐ का जाप किया तो उन्हे पुत्र प्राप्ति हो गई। गोपथ ब्राह्मण ग्रन्थ में उल्लेख है कि जो "कुश" के आसन पर पूर्व की ओर मुख कर एक हज़ार बार ॐ रूपी मंत्र का जाप करता है, उसके सब कार्य सिद्ध हो जाते हैं।
उच्चारण की विधि : --
प्रातः उठकर पवित्र होकर ओंकारध्वनि का उच्चारण करें। ॐ का उच्चारण पद्मासन, अर्धपद्मासन, सुखासन, वज्रासन में बैठकर कर सकते हैं।
इसका उच्चारण 5, 7, 10, 21 बार अपने समयानुसार कर सकते हैं।
ॐ जोर से बोल सकते हैं, धीरे-धीरेबोल सकते हैं। ॐ जप माला से भी कर सकते है।


ॐ के उच्चारण से शारीरिक लाभ --

✏1. अनेक बार ॐ का उच्चारण करने से पूरा शरीर तनाव-रहित हो जाता है।

✏2. अगर आपको घबराहटया अधीरता होती है तो ॐ के उच्चारण से उत्तम कुछ भी नहीं।

✏3. यह शरीर के विषैले तत्त्वों को दूर करता है, अर्थात तनाव के कारण पैदा होने वाले द्रव्यों पर नियंत्रण करता है।

✏4. यह हृदय और ख़ून के प्रवाह को संतुलित रखता है।

✏5. इससे पाचन शक्ति तेज़ होती है।

✏6. इससे शरीर में फिर से युवावस्था वाली स्फूर्ति का संचार होता है।

✏7. थकान से बचाने के लिए इससे उत्तम उपाय कुछ और नहीं।

✏8. नींद न आने की समस्या इससे कुछ ही समय में दूर हो जाती है। रात को सोते समय नींद आने तक मन में इसको करने से निश्चित नींद आएगी।

✏9. कुछ विशेष प्राणायाम के साथ इसे करने से फेफड़ों में मज़बूती आती है।

✏10. ॐ के पहले शब्द का उच्चारण करने से कंपन पैदा होती है। इन कंपन से रीढ़ की हड्डी प्रभावित होती है और इसकी क्षमता बढ़ जाती है।

✏11. ॐ के दूसरे शब्द का उच्चारण करने से गले में कंपन पैदा होती है जो कि थायरायड ग्रंथी पर प्रभाव डालता है।

Guru Nanak Dev Jee

“Nanak jee saw the world suffering out of hatred, fanaticism, falsehood and hypocrisy. The world had sunk in wickedness and sin. So he decided that he had to travel and educate and press home the message of Almighty Lord. So he set out in 1499 on his mission for the regeneration of humanity on this earth. He carried the torch of truth, heavenly love, peace and joy for mankind. For 1 year he spread his message of peace, compassion, righteousness and truth to the people in and around his home.“Then in 1500, he embarked on his Divine Mission. Guru ji travelled far and wide to spread the word of Gurbani (the Guru’s Word) and covered most of India, present day Bangladesh, Pakistan, Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan, South West China, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Syria, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.“He travelled on foot with his Muslim companion named Bhai Mardana, a minstrel.”

There is but One God, His name is Truth, He is the Creator, He fears none, he is without hate, He never dies, He is beyond the cycle of births and death, He is self illuminated, He is realized by the kindness of the True Guru. He was True in the beginning, He was True when the ages commenced and has ever been True, He is also True now....

Owing to ignorance of the rope the rope appears to be a snake; owing to ignorance of the Self the transient state arises of the individualized, limited, phenomenal aspect of the Self....

Whatever kind of seed is sown in a field, prepared in due season, a plant of that same kind, marked with the peculiar qualities of the seed, springs up in it....

"Important Lesson"A story

A Young man, a student in one of the universities, ...was one day taking a walk with a Professor, who was commonly called the student's friend, from his kindness to those who waited on his instructions. As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes, which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a field close by,and who had nearly finished his day's work.The student turned to the professor, saying:
"Let us play the man a trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them." "My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never amuse ourselves at the expense of the poor. But you are rich, and may give yourself a much greater pleasure by means of this poor man. Put a coin in each shoe, and then we will hide ourselves and watch how this affects him." The student did so and they both placed themselves behind the bushes close by.The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the path where he had left his coat and shoes. While putting on his coat he slipped his foot into one of his shoes, but feeling something hard, he stooped down to feel what it was, and found the coin.

Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon the coin, turned it around, and looked at it again and again. He then looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe; but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin. His feelings overcame him; hefell upon his knees, looked up to the heavens and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving in which he spoke of his wife who was sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom this timely bounty, from some unknown hand,would save from perishing. The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with tears."Now," said the professor, are you not much better pleased than if you had played your intended trick?" The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never forget. I feel now the truth of these words, which I never understood before:
"It's more blessed to give than to receive."

ध्यान धरें शिवजी मन मांही। ब्रह्मा, इन्द्र पार नहीं पाहीं॥
दूत तुम्हार वीर हनुमाना। जासु प्रभाव तिहुं पुर जाना॥
जय, जय, जय रघुनाथ कृपाला। सदा करो संतन प्रतिपाला॥
हे रघुबीर, भक्तों का कल्याण करने वाले हे भगवान श्री राम हमारी प्रार्थना सुन लिजिये। हे प्रभु जो दिन रात केवल आपका ध्यान धरता है अर्थात हर समय आपका स्मरण करता है, उसके समान दूसरा भक्त कोई नहीं है। भगवान शिव भी मन ही मन आपका ध्यान करते हैं, ब्रह्मा, इंद्र आदि भी आपकी लीला को पूरी तरह नहीं जान सके। आपके दूत वीर हनुमान हैं तीनों लोकों में जिनके प्रभाव को सब जानते हैं। हे कृपालु रघुनाथ सदा संतो का प्रतिपालक श्री राम आपकी जय हो, जय हो, जय हो।
तुव भुजदण्ड प्रचण्ड कृपाला। रावण मारि सुरन प्रतिपाला॥
तुम अनाथ के नाथ गोसाईं। दीनन के हो सदा सहाई॥
ब्रह्मादिक तव पार न पावैं। सदा ईश तुम्हरो यश गावैं॥
चारिउ बेद भरत हैं साखी। तुम भक्तन की लज्जा राखी॥
गुण गावत शारद मन माहीं। सुरपति ताको पार न पाहिं॥
नाम तुम्हार लेत जो कोई। ता सम धन्य और नहीं होई॥
राम नाम है अपरम्पारा। चारिहु वेदन जाहि पुकारा॥
हे प्रभु आपकी भुजाओं में अपार शक्ति है लेकिन इनसे हमेशा कल्याण हुआ है, अर्थात आपने हमेशा अपनी कृपा बरसाई है। हे देवताओं के प्रतिपालक भगवान श्री राम आपने ही रावण जैसे दुष्ट को मारा।
हे प्रभु हे स्वामी जिसका कोई नहीं हैं उसका दामन आप ही थामते हैं, अर्थात आप ही उसके स्वामी हैं, आपने हमेशा दीन-दुखियों का कल्याण किया है। ब्रह्मा आदि भी आपका पार नहीं पा सके, स्वयं ईश्वर भी आपकी कीर्ति का गुणगान करते हैं। आपने हमेशा अपने भक्तों का मान रखा है प्रभु, चारों वेद भी इसके साक्षी हैं। हे प्रभु शारदे मां भी मन ही मन आपका स्मरण करती हैं। देवराज इंद्र भी आपकी महिमा का पार न पा सके। जो भी आपका नाम लेता है, उसके समान धन्य और कोई भी नहीं है। हे श्री राम आपका नाम अपरम्पार है, चारों वेदों ने पुकार-पुकार कर इसका ही बखान किया है। अर्थात चारों वेद आपकी महिमा को अपम्पार मानते हैं।
गणपति नाम तुम्हारो लीन्हो। तिनको प्रथम पूज्य तुम कीन्हो॥
शेष रटत नित नाम तुम्हारा। महि को भार शीश पर धारा॥
फूल समान रहत सो भारा। पावत कोऊ न तुम्हरो पारा॥
भरत नाम तुम्हरो उर धारो। तासों कबहूं न रण में हारो॥
नाम शत्रुहन हृदय प्रकाशा। सुमिरत होत शत्रु कर नाशा॥
लखन तुम्हारे आज्ञाकारी। सदा करत सन्तन रखवारी॥
ताते रण जीते नहिं कोई। युद्ध जुरे यमहूं किन होई॥
भगवान श्री गणेश ने भी आपके नाम का स्मरण किया, सबसे पहले उन्हें पूजनीय आपने ही बनाया। शेषनाग भी हमेशा आपके नाम का जाप करते हैं जिससे वे पृथ्वी के भार को अपने सिर पर धारण करने में सक्षम हुए हैं। आपके स्मरण से बड़े से बड़ा भार भी फूल के समान लगता है। हे प्रभु आपका पार कोई नहीं पा सकता अर्थात आपकी महिमा को कोई नहीं जान सकता। भरत ने आपका नाम अपने हृद्य में धारण किया इसलिए उसे युद्ध में कोई हरा नहीं सका। शत्रुहन के हृद्य में भी आपके नाम का प्रकाश था इसलिए तो आपका स्मरण करते ही वे शत्रुओं का नाश कर देते थे। लक्ष्मण आपके आज्ञाकारी थे जिन्होंनें हमेशा संतों की रखवाली की सुरक्षा की। उनसे भी कोई युद्ध नहीं जीत सकता था चाहे युद्ध में स्वयं यमराज क्यों न लड़ रहे हों।
महालक्ष्मी धर अवतारा। सब विधि करत पाप को छारा॥
सीता राम पुनीता गायो। भुवनेश्वरी प्रभाव दिखायो॥
घट सों प्रकट भई सो आई। जाको देखत चन्द्र लजाई॥
जो तुम्हरे नित पांव पलोटत। नवो निद्धि चरणन में लोटत॥
सिद्धि अठारह मंगलकारी। सो तुम पर जावै बलिहारी॥
आपके साथ-साथ मां महालक्ष्मी ने भी अवतार रुप लेकर हर विधि से पाप का नाश किया। इसीलिए सीता राम का पवित्र नाम गाया जाता है। मां भुवनेश्वरी अपना प्रभाव दिखाती हैं। माता सीता ने जब अवतार लिया तो वे घट यानि घड़े से प्रकट हुई इनका रुप इतना सुंदर था कि जिन्हें देखकर चंद्रमा भी शरमा जाए। हे प्रभु जो नित्य आपके चरणों को धोता है नौ निधियां उसके चरणों में लौट लगाती हैं। उसके लिए अठारह सिद्धियां ( मार्कंडेय पुराण के अनुसार सिद्धियां आठ होती हैं जबकि ब्रह्मवैवर्त पुराण में अठारह बताई गई हैं) मंगलकारी होती हैं जो आप पर न्यौछावर हैं।
औरहु जो अनेक प्रभुताई। सो सीतापति तुमहिं बनाई॥
इच्छा ते कोटिन संसारा। रचत न लागत पल की बारा॥
जो तुम्हरे चरणन चित लावै। ताकी मुक्ति अवसि हो जावै॥
सुनहु राम तुम तात हमारे। तुमहिं भरत कुल पूज्य प्रचारे॥
तुमहिं देव कुल देव हमारे। तुम गुरु देव प्राण के प्यारे॥
हे सीता पति भगवान श्री राम, अन्य जितने देवी-देवता हैं, सब आपने ही बनाए हैं। आपकी इच्छा हो तो आपको करोड़ों संसारों की रचना करने में भी पल भर की देरी न लगे। जो आपके चरणों में ध्यान लगाता है उसकी मुक्ति अवश्य हो जाती है। हे श्री राम सुन लिजिये आप ही हमारे पिता हैं, आप ही भारतवर्ष में पूज्य हैं। हे देव आप ही हमारे कुलदेव हैं, हे गुरु देव आप हमें प्राणों से प्यारे हैं।
जो कुछ हो सो तुमहिं राजा। जय जय जय प्रभु राखो लाजा॥
राम आत्मा पोषण हारे। जय जय जय दशरथ के प्यारे॥
जय जय जय प्रभु ज्योति स्वरुपा। नर्गुण ब्रहृ अखण्ड अनूपा॥
सत्य सत्य जय सत्यव्रत स्वामी। सत्य सनातन अन्तर्यामी॥
सत्य भजन तुम्हरो जो गावै। सो निश्चय चारों फल पावै॥
सत्य शपथ गौरीपति कीन्हीं। तुमने भक्तिहिं सब सिधि दीन्हीं॥
हे प्रभु श्री राम हमारे जो कुछ भी हैं, सब आप ही हैं, हमारी लाज रखिये, आपकी जय हो प्रभु। हे हमारी आत्मा का पोषण करने वाले दशरथ प्यारे भगवान श्री राम, आपकी जय हो। हे ज्योति स्वरुप प्रभु, आपकी जय हो। आप ही निर्गुण ईश्वर हैं, जो अद्वितीय है, अखंडित है। हे सत्य रुप, सत्य के पालक आप ही सत्य हैं, आपकी जय हो। अनादिकाल से ही आप सत्य हैं, अंतर्यामी हैं। सच्चे हृद्य से जो आपका भजन करता है, उसे चारों फल प्राप्त होते हैं। इसी सत्य की शपथ भगवान शंकर ने की जिससे आपने उन्हें भक्ति के साथ-साथ सब सिद्धियां भी दी।
ज्ञान हृदय दो ज्ञान स्वरुपा। नमो नमो जय जगपति भूपा॥
धन्य धन्य तुम धन्य प्रतापा। नाम तुम्हार हरत संतापा॥
सत्य शुद्ध देवन मुख गाया। बजी दुन्दुभी शंख बजाया॥
सत्य सत्य तुम सत्य सनातन। तुम ही हो हमरे तन-मन धन॥
हे ज्ञान स्वरुप, हमारे हृद्य को भी ज्ञान दो, हे जगपति, हे ब्रह्माण्ड के राजा, आपकी जय हो, हम आपको नमन करते हैं। आपका प्रताप धन्य है, आप भी धन्य हैं, प्रभु आपका नाम सारे संतापों अर्थात सारे कष्टों का हरण कर लेता है। आप ही शुद्ध सत्य हैं, जिसे देवताओं ने अपने मुख से गाया था, जिसके बाद शंख की दुंदुभी बजी थी। अनादिकाल से आप ही सत्य हैं, हे प्रभु आप ही हमारा तन-मन-धन हैं।
याको पाठ करे जो कोई। ज्ञान प्रकट ताके उर होई॥
आवागमन मिटै तिहि केरा। सत्य वचन माने शिव मेरा॥
और आस मन में जो होई। मनवांछित फल पावे सोई॥
तीनहुं काल ध्यान जो ल्यावै। तुलसी दल अरु फूल चढ़ावै॥
साग पत्र सो भोग लगावै। सो नर सकल सिद्धता पावै॥
अन्त समय रघुबर पुर जाई। जहां जन्म हरि भक्त कहाई॥
श्री हरिदास कहै अरु गावै। सो बैकुण्ठ धाम को पावै॥
जो कोई भी इसका पाठ करता है, उसके हृद्य में ज्ञान का प्रकाश होता है, अर्थात उसे सत्य का ज्ञान होता है। उसका आवागमन मिट जाता है, भगवान शिव भी मेरे इस वचन को सत्य मानते हैं। यदि और कोई इच्छा उसके मन में होती हैं तो इच्छानुसार फल प्राप्त होते हैं। जो कोई भी तीनों काल प्रभु का ध्यान लगाता है। प्रभु को तुलसी दल व फूल अर्पण करता है। साग पत्र से भोग लगाता है, उसे सारी सिद्धियां प्राप्त होती हैं। अंतिम समय में वह रघुबर पुर अर्थात स्वर्गलोक में गमन करता हैं, जहां पर जन्म लेने से ही जीव हरिभक्त कहलाता है। श्री हरिदास भी गाते हुए कहते हैं वह बैकुण्ठ धाम को प्राप्त करता है।

सात दिवस जो नेम कर, पाठ करे चित लाय।
हरिदास हरि कृपा से, अवसि भक्ति को पाय॥
राम चालीसा जो पढ़े, राम चरण चित लाय।
जो इच्छा मन में करै, सकल सिद्ध हो जाय॥
यदि कोई भी सात दिनों तक नियम पूर्वक ध्यान लगाकर पाठ करता है, तो हरिदास जी कहते हैं कि भगवान विष्णु की कृपा से वह अवश्य ही भक्ति को पा लेता है। राम के चरणों में ध्यान लगाकर जो कोई भी, इस राम चालीसा को पढ़ता है, वह जो भी मन में इच्छा करता है, वह पूरी होती है।

No Mind, No Mirror


Hui Neng, a Chinese master, was working under his master. When Hui Neng went to his master, the master said, “For what have you come here? There is no need to come to me.” He couldn’t understand. Hui Neng thought that he was not yet ready to be accepted, but the master was seeing something else. He was seeing his growing aura. He was saying this: “Even if you do not come to me, the thing is bound to happen sooner or later, anywhere. You are already in it, so there is no need to come to me.”

But Hui Neng said, “Do not reject me.” So the master accepted him and told him to go just behind the monastery, in the kitchen of the monastery. It was a big monastery of five hundred monks. The master said to Hui Neng, “Just go behind the monastery and help in the kitchen, and do not come again to me. Whenever it will be needed, I will come to you.”

No meditation was given to Hui Neng, no scriptures to read, study or meditate upon. Nothing was taught to him, he was just thrown into the kitchen. The whole monastery was working. There were pundits, scholars, and there were meditators, and there were yogis, and the whole monastery was agog. Everyone was working and this Hui Neng was just cleaning rice and doing kitchen work.

Twelve years passed. Hui Neng didn’t go again to the master because it was not allowed. He waited, he waited, he waited… he simply waited. He was just taken as a servant. Scholars would come, meditators would come, and no one would even pay any attention to him. And there were big scholars in the monastery.

Then the master declared that his death was near, and now he wanted to appoint someone to function in his place, so he said, “Those who think they are enlightened should compose a small poem of four lines. In those four lines you should put all that you have gained. And if I approve any poems and see that the lines show that enlightenment has happened, I will choose someone as my successor.”

There was a great scholar in the monastery, and no one attempted the poem because everyone knew that he was going to win. He was a great knower of scriptures, so he composed four lines. Those four lines were just like this… the meaning of it was like this: “Mind is like a mirror, and dust gathers on it. Clean the dust, and you are enlightened.”

But even this great scholar was afraid because the master would know. He already knows who is enlightened and who is not. Though all he has written is beautiful, it is the very essence of all the scriptures — mind is like a mirror, and dust gathers on it; remove the dust, and you are enlightened — this was the whole gist of all the Vedas, but he knew that was all that it was. He had not known anything, so he was afraid.

He didn’t go directly to the master, but in the night he went to the hut, to his master’s hut, and wrote all the four lines on the wall without signing — without any signature. In this way, if the master approved and said, “Okay, this is right,” then he would say, “I have written them.” If he said, “No! Who has written these lines?” then he would keep silent, he thought.

But the master approved. In the morning the master said, “Okay!” He laughed and said, “Okay! The man who has written this is an enlightened one.” So the whole monastery began to talk about it. Everyone knew who had written it. They were discussing and appreciating, and the lines were beautiful — really beautiful. Then some monks came to the kitchen. They were drinking tea and they were talking, and Hui Neng was there serving them. He heard what had happened. The moment he heard those four lines, he laughed. So someone asked, “Why are you laughing, you fool? You do not know anything; for twelve years you have been serving in the kitchen. Why are you laughing?”

No one had even heard him laugh before. He was just taken as an idiot who would not even talk. So he said, “I cannot write, and I am not an enlightened one either, but these lines are wrong. So if someone comes with me, I will compose four lines. If someone comes with me, he can write it on the wall. I cannot write; I do not know writing.”

So someone followed him — just as a joke. A crowd came there and Hui Neng said, “Write: There is no mind and there is no mirror, so where can the dust gather? One who knows this is enlightened.”

But the master came out and he said, “You are wrong,” to Hui Neng. Hui Neng touched his feet and returned back to his kitchen.

In the night when everyone was asleep, the master came to Hui Neng and said, “You are right, but I could not say so before those idiots — and they are learned idiots. If I had said that you are appointed as my successor, they would have killed you. So escape from here! You are my successor, but do not tell it to anyone. And I knew this the day you came. Your aura was growing; that was why no meditation was given to you. There was no need. You were already in meditation. And these twelve years’ silence — not doing anything, not even meditation — emptied you completely of your mind, and the aura has become full. You have become a full moon. But escape from here! Otherwise they will kill you.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy, happier than I've probably ever been. If you detect any sadness, it is only because I have found you in this life but I am not sure if I have found you in previous lives and I am worried about finding you in future ones.

What if there is a series of sad me's going backwards and forwards in time who did not and do not find you?

What if this is the only point of light along that infinite line?
