Bhagwat Geeta

【WHAT GOOD DOES THE BHAGAVAD GITA DO?】
An old farmer lived on a farm in the mountains with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Bhagavath Gita. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could.
One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Bhagavath Gita just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Bhagavath Gita do?"
The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a basket of water."
The boy did as he was told, but all the water leaked out before he got back to the house.
The grandfather laughed and said, "You'll have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home.
Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead.
The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water. You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy try again.
At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty.
Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless!" "So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket."
The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out.
"Son, that's what happens when you read the Bhagavath Gita. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out. That is the work of Krishna in our lives!"......

Osho About Laughter: Spread Happiness

Laughter is the best medicine. If you can laugh when you are ill you will get your health back sooner. If you cannot laugh, even if you are healthy, sooner or later you will lose your health and you will become ill.
Laughter brings inner energy to the fore. When you really laugh, for those few moments you are in a deep meditative state. Thinking stops. It is impossible to laugh and think together. When you really laugh, suddenly, the mind disappears. And the whole Zen methodology is how to get into no-mind.
Dancing and laughter are the best, natural, easily approachable doors to attaining no-mind. Existence melts into you; there is an overlapping of boundaries. And if you are really dancing? not managing it but allowing it to manage you, allowing it to possess you? if you are possessed by dance, thinking stops. The same happens with laughter. If you are possessed by laughter, thinking stops. And if you know a few moments of no-mind, those glimpses will promise you many more rewards that are going to come.
Before the mind disappears there open two alternatives: sleep or sushupti, samadhi and satori. When thinking disappears, these are the two alternatives left: either you move into satori – a fully alert, no-thought state; or a fully asleep, no-thought state – sleep. And sleep is more natural, because you have practiced it long. If you live 60 years, for 20 years you have been asleep. It is the greatest activity that you have been doing; one-third of your life is spent in sleep. Laughing, how can you fall asleep? It brings a state of no-mind and no-thought, and does not allow you to fall asleep.
In a few Zen monasteries, every monk has to start his morning with laughter, and has to end his night with laughter. It will be difficult, living in a family set-up, to suddenly laugh early in the morning. But do try it; it's worth getting out of bed laughing. Yes, for no reason at all. Isn't it good to be alive?
One day you will not get up in the morning. One day the milkman will knock at the door, the spouse will be snoring, but you will not be there. One day, death will come. Before it knocks you down, have a good laugh – while there is time, have a good laugh.
And look at the whole ridiculousness: again the same day starts; you have done the same things again and again for your whole life. Again you will get into your slippers, rush to the bathroom – for what? Brushing your teeth, taking a shower – for what? Where are you going? Getting ready and nowhere to go!
Look at the whole ridiculousness of it and have a good laugh. Laughter leads to more laughter. And almost always I have seen people doing just the wrong thing. From early morning they get out of bed complaining, gloomy, sad, depressed, and miserable. Then one thing leads to another and for nothing. And they get angry. it is very bad because it will change your climate for the whole day, it will set a pattern for the whole day.
In their insanity, Zen people are saner than you are. They start the day laughing. Then the whole day you will feel laughter bubbling, welling up. There are so many ridiculous things happening all over! God must be dying of laughter down the centuries, for eternity, seeing this ridiculousness of the world. The people that He has created, and all the absurdities? it is really a comedy. He must be laughing.
If you become silent after your laughter, one day you will hear God also laughing, you will hear the whole existence laughing with you even the trees and stones and stars

Wings

For everything in this journey of life we are on, there is a right wing and a left wing: for the wing of love there is anger; for the wing of destiny there is fear; for the wing of pain there is healing; for the wing of hurt there is forgiveness; for the wing of pride there is humility; for the wing of giving there is taking; for the wing of tears there is joy; for the wing of rejection there is acceptance; for the wing of judgment there is grace; for the wing of honor there is shame; for the wing of letting go there is the wing of keeping. We can only fly with two wings and two wings can only stay in the air if there is a balance. Two beautiful wings is perfection. There is a generation of people who idealize perfection as the existence of only one of these wings every time. But I see that a bird with one wing is imperfect. An angel with one wing is imperfect. A butterfly with one wing is dead. So this generation of people strive to always cut off the other wing in the hopes of embodying their ideal of perfection, and in doing so, have created a crippled race.

Taste of the flight

Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.
Leonardo da Vinci

The final flight

I have come to accept the feeling of not knowing where I am going. And I have trained myself to love it. Because it is only when we are suspended in mid-air with no landing in sight, that we force our wings to unravel and alas begin our flight. And as we fly, we still may not know where we are going to. But the miracle is in the unfolding of the wings. You may not know where you're going, but you know that so long as you spread your wings, the winds will carry you.

Story of Ugly The Cat

Everyone in the apartment complex I lived in knew who Ugly was. Ugly was the resident tomcat.

Ugly loved three things in this world: fighting, eating garbage and shall we say, love. The combination of these things combined with life spent outside had their effect on Ugly.

To start with, he had only one eye, and where the others should have been was a gaping hole. He was also missing his ear on the same side, his left foot has appeared to have been badly broken at one time, and had healed at an unnatural angle, making him look like he was always turning the corner. His tail has long since been lost, leaving only the smallest stub, which he would constantly jerk and twitch. Ugly would have been a dark gray tabby striped-type, except for the sores covering his head, neck; even his shoulders with thick, yellow scabs.

Every time someone saw Ugly there was the same reaction "Thats one ugly cat!" All the children were warned not to touch him, the adults threw rocks at him, hosed him down, squirted him when he tried to come to their homes, or shut his paws in the door when he would not leave.

Ugly always had the same reaction. If you turned the hose on him, he would stand there, getting soaked until you gave up and quit. If you threw things at him, he would curl his lanky body around his feet in forgiveness. Whenever he spied children, he would come running meowing frantically and bump his head against their hands, begging for their love. If you ever picked him up he would immediately begin suckling on your shirt, earrings or what ever he could find.

One day Ugly shared his love with the neighbor's huskies. They did not respond kindly, and Ugly was badly mauled. From my apartment I could hear his screams, and I tried to rush to his aid. By the time I got to where he was laying, it was apparent Ugly's sad life was almost at an end.

Ugly lay in a wet circle, his back legs and lower back twisted grossly out of shape, a gaping tear in the white strip of fur that ran down his front. As I picked him up and tried to carry him home I could hear him wheezing and gasping, and I could feel him struggling. I must be hurting him terribly I thought.

Then I felt a familiar tugging, sucking sensation on my ear - Ugly, in so much pain, suffering and obviously dying was trying to suckle my ear. I pulled him closer to me, and he bumped my palm with his head. Then, he turned his one golden eye towards me. I could hear the distinct sound of purring. Even in the greatest pain that ugly battle-scarred cat was asking only for a little affection, perhaps some compassion.

At the moment I thought Ugly was the most beautiful, loving creature I had ever seen. Never once did he try to bite or scratch me, or even try to get away from me, or struggle in any way. Ugly just looked up at me completely trusting in me to relieve his pain.

Ugly died in my arms before I could get inside, but I sat and held him for a long time afterwards, thinking about how one scarred, deformed little stray could so alter my opinion about what it means to have true pureness of spirit, to love so totally and truly. Ugly taught me more about giving and compassion than a thousand books, lectures, or talk show specials ever could, and for that I will always be thankful. He had be scarred on the outside, but I was scarred on the inside, and it was time for me to move on and learn to love truly and deeply. To give my total to those I care for.

Many people want to be richer, more successful, well liked, beautiful, but for me, I will always try to be Ugly.

------------------

This is a beautiful and sad story at the same time. It begs us to think about all the people we choose to ignore or spend less time with as a result of this reason or that. If we can all be a bit more 'Ugly,' the world would be a better place

Saint is a Sinner who never gave up

This is a story of two frogs told by Paramahansa Yogananda. It has a valuable spiritual importance. It stresses on the importance of persistence in a spiritual aspirant's life.

'Saint is a sinner who never gave up', this quote of Paramahansa Yogananda and this story both stress the importance of self effort for spiritual progress
There were two frogs living in a pond near a farm, It was spring and the grass was green with colorful flowers decorating it, There were swans swimming in the pond, butterflies flying around and fishes swimming and playing. It was a beautiful day and the big frog was very happy to sit and do nothing all day. The small frog jumped from behind the big frog "Get up! lets go and play in the pond" called to his friend.
The small frog jumped into the water with joy, the big frog followed. They swam in the pond happily, they crossed the pond into the barnyard having fun and playing on their way, leaping with joy. In their joy they were carelessly jumping around. It was the milking time at the barn and the frogs accidentally jumped into a bucket half filled with milk.
Insides of the bucket were slippery and it was hard to hold on to, they tried very hard but there was no way for them to get out. They were forced to stay inside and swim. They kept swimming for sometime, it was tiring them. The frogs shouted "Help! Help!" , unfortunately there was no help coming their way.
The big frog groaned "What is the use of swimming, we will die here anyway, I'm already tired, I can't swim anymore". "Don't give up my friend, lets keep trying, or else we will die" encouraged his little friend. They swam for some more time after that. The big frog finally said "I can't swim anymore, It is of no use, we will die anyway, I'm going to quit". The big frog stopped and it gradually sunk into the bottom.
The little frog said to itself "I'll keep trying as long as I can, or else I will also die". So he kept swimming for couple more hours. His legs were moving very slowly, hardly managing to stay on top. The little frog thought of giving up and ending his life , which seemed to be the only option he had.
He remembered what happened to his big friend and kept trying with all his might. "I will keep trying until I die. As long as I keep trying there is hope" thought the little frog.  He swam with all his strength, he was getting weak, splashes in the milk was the only sound he could hear. As he kept trying the milk was getting thicker and thicker with foam, making it difficult for him to swim.
The little frog kept swimming even when the milk got thicker making it difficult for him to swim. Milk got so thick that it was getting difficult even to take his legs out of the thick lump. When he was very close to last of his strengths he found a solid lump forming below him in the milk. As soon as the butter was solid enough to stand on it he jumped with all his strength and leaped outside the bucket.
His joy was immeasurable, He was filled with so much joy, from then on he decided he would keep trying no matter how difficult the situation is.
Moral of the story: Banat. Banat.. Ban jaaye (doing.. doing.. done) Saint is a sinner who never gave up. One should never give up his spiritual efforts no matter how much difficult it is to try. Keep trying, Keep trying

~Sanson Ki Mala Pe~

Sanson Ki Mala Pe
(literally: On the rosary of breath) is a bhajan originally sung by Meerabai (c. 1498 – c. 1557 AD), a Rajput princess and a Hindu mystic from Rajasthan in praise of Lord Krishna. The song has been sung by many famous artists.

[Lyrics & English Translations]

saaNsoN kii maalaa pe simruuN maiN pii ka naam

apne mann kii maiN jaanuuN aur pii ke mann kii Ram

With every breath I take, I chant the name of my beloved I know of my heart, and God knows of the heart of my beloved

yahii merii bandagii hai, yahii merii puujaa

This is my salutation [and] this is my prayer.

ek thaa saajan mandir meN aur ek thaa pritam masjid meN

par maiN prem ke rang meN aisii Duubii ban gayaa ek hii ruup

One lover was in the temple and another in the mosque but to me, immersed in the joy of love, both seemed same

prem kii maalaa japte japte aap banii maiN Shyam

Chanting on rosary, the name of Shyam [Lord Krishna], I become him. Note: A Hindu God sung and revered by the patrons of love.

ham aur nahiiN kuchu kaam ke

matvaare pii ke naam ke, har dam

I am worthless except that I surrender to the name of my beloved, all the time.

priitam kaa kuch dosh nahiiN hai vo to hai nirdosh

apne aap se baateN kar ke ho gayii maiN badnaam

My beloved is not to be blamed, it is no fault of his I became infamous only because of talking to myself.

Jeevan Ka Shingar Hai Preetam

Mang Pe Hai Sindoor

My beloved is the beautification of life And also the vermilion in my hair

Preetam Ki Nazron Se Girr Karr

Jeena Hai Kis Kaam

When fallen in my beloved’s eyes What use is living?

Sanson Ki Mala Pe Simroon Main Pi Ka Naam

On the garland of my breaths I have bejewelled my beloved’s name

"Message for the day"
(You read it on)
What is the first thought you have when you open your eyes in the morning? Is it a positive thought or a negative one? The first thought you have in the morning will usually determine how your day goes by.

Where there is zeal and enthusiasm, success is guaranteed.
If you are not able to experience success in all that you do, check if you are filled with enthusiasm or not. Also find out the reason for not being enthusiastic. This helps you to realize and overcome your weakness.
In order to increase your own enthusiasm throughout the day, create an aim for yourself and see that you work towards this aim each day. When you find yourself progressing towards the aim you will become enthusiastic.

Pangs of separation

One day, Radharani went into the forest in search of Krsna. She was experiencing great separation.

Her friend, Vishaka, says, "My dear Radharani, I can see how you are suffering of separation from Krsna. Therefore I have drawn a picture of Krsna."

So immediately, Radharani saw that picture of Krsna and she was attached to that drawing of Krsna at the same time! So it got double as bad! Her separation became completely overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Krsna was also in that same forest looking for Radharani, but He didn’t know where exactly to look. He is also feeling eagerness and separation.

Then Krsna is saying out loud to His friend, Sridham, "My dear Sridham, don’t you also think that Radharani is the most beautiful girl in the three worlds?"

Krsna was further wandering into the forest. He saw a leaf in the forest and His name written on that leaf with red kum kum. Immediately He realized who had done this; He could see who had written this.

Spontaneously, He picked up His flute and played His flute.

Radharani, by the sound of that flute, could understand that Krsna had seen that leaf and that now He was playing His flute. Then She said out loud, "This sound, what is this sound? What is this sound?" and She became also, completely captured by the sound.

She starts saying, "I am the most unfortunate person because I became simultaneously attracted to three persons: to the one who’s form is attracting me, to the one who’s picture is attracting me and to the one who plays His flute! Therefore I’m meant to be condemned. I am simultaneously attracted to three personalities. This is totally to be condemned. Therefore the best I could do is to give up my life!"

But Vishaka says, "But they are one and the same person."

Radharani says, "One and the same?

Goodbye Be£oved

-- O' My Beloved Good Bye --

Once Krishna asked Radha to come alone to one of the kunja of Shri Dham Vrindavan to meet Him before He leaves for mathura…. Shri Radha reached there on schedule time.

Radha : “O Krishna, Here, I am…What do you wish to say ?”

Krishna : “There’s nothing to say. I merely wanted your permission to leave for Mathura.”

Radha: “Do you want my permission or my life?”

Krishna : “O Radhe, Our bodies may be separate but we share the same life. This parting is of the body.”

Radha: “But, what will happen after the parting? Have you thought of that?”

Krishna: “I have, But We must perform the ritual that is predestined. We must complete the task we have undertaken! You know that !”

Then Radha’s eyes and heart filled with tears and pain.

Radha : “Yes, I know that. For you, the task is more important than Radha. But you don’t know that, for Radha, Krishna is the important thing….. She has nothing else. Radha’s every duty, every task, her hopes and her ambition, her prayers and entreaties are all Placed at Krishna’s Lotus feet…”

“If you take these blessed feet away from me…. Then your Radha will be left alone in Vrindavan after your going away to Gokul, like the ash that is left in the holy pot after the ritual of fire is over!”

“You can never understand this pain! Only the beloved can understand this!”

Krishna: “Why? Does not the lover experience this pain?”

Radha: “Not to the same extent! The lover bears this pain with his manliness…but the beloved has only one support : Her Lover! And if her lover deserts her….then how can she bear the pain?”

“She needs her lover to share her pain and cry on his shoulder. Otherwise She cannot show her tears to others so as not to defame her lover…..You’ll keep yourself busy either doing your duty on battlefield or in society or establishing a just social order, but your beloved Radha will be lost in the vast notingness of loneliness…..Whom will she unburden her heart to?”

Krishna: “To Me.”

Radha: “To You?”

Krishna: “Yes, To Me. O Radhe, wherever I may be, in the palace or in the forest on the battlefield or doing my duty…..I give you my word that we’ll meet regularly in the emotional world of dreams….”

Radha: “Huh! I’ll dream if I can sleep. If a beloved can sleep peacefully when separated from her lover…It is disrespect shown to love.”

Krishna: “No. If there is hope of a union with the lover it is not a disrespect of Love to dream be it of heavan or Helll or even the Dream world itself.“

Radha : “How hard-hearted you are. Distracting me with dreams. Sometimes I wonder why I left Heaven (Goloka) to bear this pain in Vrindavan….I could have stayed there with your immortal form watching your antics in human form Crazed by your love…why did I follow you to this mortal World???”

Krishna: “I know why.”

Radha: “Why?”

Krishna: “So that I could enjoy your companionship on this cruel Earth for bit of time…In this environment of violence and greed you wanted to give me your selfless love…Your coming here has made possible the Love Ritual….Which will make Krishna the Incarnation of Love otherwise, in this Incarnation….I’ve to accomplish many difficult tasks!”

Radha: “May I ask something?”

Krishna: “Yes.”

Radha: “You always say you are bound by the love of your devotees and your beloved?”

Krishna: “Yes.”

Radha: “That you always obey their dictates?”

Krishna: “Of course!”

Radha: “Will you listen to me.. If I ask you not to leave me and go away from Vrindavan ?”

Krishna: “I’ll obey you, if you order me to.”

Radha: “All right! I order you to promise me that you will stay here with me….”

Krishna: “All right! I give you my word. I’ll not leave without your permission….”

Radha: “Then sit by my side and play the flute…”

Krishna: “As you wish!”

Then Krishna started to play His transcendental flute and Radha put her head on Krishna’s shoulder and started to listen the sound of His transcendental flute with great attention.

Radha statred to weep and her eyes were filled with tears and said to Krishna…

Radha: “May I ask for something?”

Krishna: “Yes.”

Radha: “Make me two promise before you leave..”

Krishna: “What?”

Radha: “First, not only in my dreams but in reality as well as long as I am on this earth…you’ll stay in my heart for every moment….”

Krishna: “And the second?”

Radha: “Second, before I leave this Earth you will meet me at least once.”

Krishna: “I give you my word! But I also want you to promise me something.”

Radha: “What?”

Krishna: “You will not shed tears….”

Radha: “That will be difficult…”
Then Krishna Himself wipes tears from Radha’s eyes and Said : “O Radhe…. Every tear of yours will be an obstacle in my path of Duty. So, give me your word”

Radha: “Allright! I give you my word! I won’t shed any tears!”

After said that Radha placed her head upon Lotus Feet of Shri Krishna…and Krishna immediately left that place…….

And Radha started to Sing this song of seperation with Her unconscious and broken heart…

O Lord of my Life! Goodbye….
O Lord of the World! Goodbye...
A broken heart, a silent love,
bids my Beloved Goodbye..

Goodbye….Goodbye….Goodbye…
O My Beloved Goodbye….

I cannot go with thee.. Nor can I stop thee…
You walk on the path of duty,
which path should I take?

O Lord of the World! Goodbye….
O Lord of the Flute! Goodbye....
A broken heart, a silent love
bids my Beloved Goodbye….

Goodbye….Goodbye….Goodbye…
O My Beloved Goodbye..

The waves of the Yamuna separates our hearts..
We will occupy the same Earth,
Our ultimate union is definite!
On the chariot of Religion!

Goodbye…
On the path of Duty! Goodbye…
A broken heart, a silent love
bids my Beloved Goodbye….

Goodbye….Goodbye….Goodbye…
O My Beloved Goodbye…

F£ute of Krishna

-- A beautiful story about the flute of Krishna --

There is a beautiful story about the flute of Krishna. You know Krishna always holds a flute in his hand, but there is a great story behind it.

Everyday Krishna would go in the garden and say to all the plants, “I love you”. The plants were very happy and responded back and said “Krishna, we love You, too”.

One day Krishna rushed quickly into the garden very alarmed. He went to the bamboo plant and the bamboo plant asked, “Krishna, what´s wrong with you?”

Krishna said “I have something to ask you, but it is very difficult”.

The bamboo said “Tell me: if I can, I will give it to you”.

So Krishna said “I need your life. I need to cut you”.

The bamboo thought for a while and then said “You don´t have any other choice. You don’t have any other way?”

Krishna said, “No, no other way”.

And it said “OK, I surrender to you”.

So Krishna cut the bamboo, made holes in it. Krishna made a beautiful flute out of it. And this flute was with Krishna all the time. 24 hours a day, it was with Krishna.

Even the Gopis were jealous of the flute. They said, “Look, Krishna is our Lord, but yet we get to spend only some time with him. He wakes up with you, He sleeps with you, all the time you are with him”.

So one day they asked the bamboo, “Tell us the secret of it. What secret do you have, that the Lord treasures you so much?”

And the bamboo said “The secret is that I´m empty inside. And the Lord does whatever he wants with me, whenever he wants with me and however he wants with me”.

So this is complete surrender: where God can do whatever He wants with you, whenever He wants, as He wants. And for that you don’t need to be scared, you know, you have just to give yourself. And who is yourself in reality? It’s just Him!

"Say NO to eating SONGS" that Fly

We ate the birds. We ate them. We wanted their songs to flow up through our throats and burst out of our mouths, and so we ate them. We wanted their feathers to bud from our flesh. We wanted their wings, we wanted to fly as they did, soar freely among the treetops and the clouds, and so we ate them. We speared them, we clubbed them, we tangled their feet in glue, we netted them, we spitted them, we threw them onto hot coals, and all for love, because we loved them. We wanted to be one with them. We wanted to hatch out of clean, smooth, beautiful eggs, as they did, back when we were young and agile and innocent of cause and effect, we did not want the mess of being born, and so we crammed the birds into our gullets, feathers and all, but it was no use, we couldn’t sing, not effortlessly as they do, we can’t fly, not without smoke and metal, and as for the eggs we don’t stand a chance. We’re mired in gravity, we’re earthbound. We’re ankle-deep in blood, and all because we ate the birds, we ate them a long time ago, when we still had the power to say no.

Wisdom of a £otus being

The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud --- the obstacles of life and its suffering. ... The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. ... Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one.
[Go£die Hawn]
❣ ❣    ❣ ❣   ❣ ❣   ❣ ❣   ❣ ❣   ❣ ❣

The conditions that produce beautiful life are not always ideal, but that never stops the lotus from rising through adversity, opening its petals, and blossoming in the sun.
In Buddhism, the bud of the lotus symbolizes potential. The lotus flower represents an awakening, spiritual growth, and enlightenment. Just as the lotus flower emerges from the water clean, the lotus also represents purity of body, speech, and mind. The lotus could be thought of as an awakened mind, which grows naturally toward the warmth and light of truth, love and compassion. The lotus may appear fragile on the surface, but it is flexible and strong, securely anchored under the surface of the water

Despite being born into dark, murky conditions, where hope for such beautiful life seems dubious, the lotus grows, rises above adversity. Ironically, this same dirty water washes it clean as it surfaces. As the lotus opens each petal to the air, not a stain or spot of mud remains externally. The inner lotus too, has never seen a drop of mud or dirty water. It is pure, and bright, and beautiful

Sacred Tears....a short story !

I Request you to Spare some time to read this beautiful story and get your children to read it at least once....A beautiful story moi elder brother and a Dear friend.."AB"shared with moi
      °~●~°===========°~●~°
One young man went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the initial interview, and now would meet the director for the final interview.

The director discovered from his CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent. He asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" the youth answered "no".

" Was it your father who paid for your school fees?"

"My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.” he replied.

" Where did your mother work?"

"My mother worked as clothes cleaner.”

The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.

" Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?"

"Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Besides, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.

The director said, "I have a request. When you go home today, go and clean your mother's hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.

The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back home, he asked his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to her son.

The youth cleaned his mother's hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother's hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother winced when he touched it.

This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fees. The bruises in the mother's hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his education, his school activities and his future.

After cleaning his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.

That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.

Next morning, the youth went to the director's office.

The Director noticed the tears in the youth's eyes, when he asked: "Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?"

The youth answered," I cleaned my mother's hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes'

“I know now what appreciation is. Without my mother, I would not be who I am today. By helping my mother, only now do I realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done on your own. And I have come to appreciate the importance and value of helping one’s family.

The director said, "This is what I am looking for in a manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life.”

“You are hired.”

A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop an "entitlement mentality" and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent's efforts. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying our children instead?

You can let your child live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch on a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your child learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.
Please do forward the above story to the beautiful young generation of today....it might make them pause and think deeply with a new perspective

The golden hues of Bhagwat Geeta

♥Whatever you took, you took from God. Whatever you gave, you gave to him. You came empty handed, you will leave empty handed.♥

Some quotes from famous personalities across the world on the Bhagavad Gita:
Albert Einstein
"When I read the Bhagavad-Gita and reflect about how God created this universe everything else seems so superfluous."
Aldous Huxley
"The Bhagavad-Gita is the most systematic statement of spiritual evolution of endowing value to mankind. It is one of the most clear and comprehensive summaries of perennial philosophy ever revealed; hence its enduring value is subject not only to India but to all of humanity."
Mahatma Gandhi
"When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to Bhagavad-gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meanings from it every day."
Henry David Thoreau
"In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita, in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial."
Dr. Albert Schweitzer
"The Bhagavad-Gita has a profound influence on the spirit of mankind by its devotion to God which is manifested by actions."
Carl Jung
"The idea that man is like unto an inverted tree seems to have been current in by gone ages. The link with Vedic conceptions is provided by Plato in his Timaeus in which it states 'behold we are not an earthly but a heavenly plant.' This correlation can be discerned by what Krishna expresses in chapter 15 of Bhagavad-Gita."
Herman Hesse
"The marvel of the Bhagavad-Gita is its truly beautiful revelation of life's wisdom which enables philosophy to blossom into religion."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"I owed a magnificent day to the Bhagavad-gita. It was the first of books; it was as if an empire spoke to us, nothing small or unworthy, but large, serene, consistent, the voice of an old intelligence which in another age and climate had pondered and thus disposed of the same questions which exercise us."

Whatever happened, happened for good.
Whatever is happening, is happening for good.
Whatever will happen, that will be for good as well.
What have you lost? why are you crying?
What did you bring with you, which you have lost?
What did you produce, which was destroyed?
Whatever was received, was received from here.
Whatever was given, was given here
You brought nothing when you were born
You are taking nothing with you when you die
Whatever is yours today was somebody else’s yesterday and will be somebody else’s tomorrow.
Change is the law of the universe.

From the Bhagavad Gita

"When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to Bhagavad-Gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the Gita will derive fresh joy and new meanings from it every day." [Mahatma Gandhi]

[Bhagavad Gita quotes, spoken by Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of the Kurukshetra. ]
[Content and photo Courtesy Google]

Whenever dharma declines and the purpose of life is forgotten, I manifest myself on earth. I am born in every age to protect the good, to destroy evil, and to reestablish dharma.

As they approach me, so I receive them. All paths, Arjuna, lead to me.

I am the beginning, middle, and end of creation.

Among animals I am the lion; among birds, the eagle Garuda. I am Prahlada, born among the demons, and of all that measures, I am time.

I am death, which overcomes all, and the source of all beings still to be born.

Just remember that I am, and that I support the entire cosmos with only a fragment of my being.

Behold, Arjuna, a million divine forms, with an infinite variety of color and shape. Behold the gods of the natural world, and many more wonders never revealed before. Behold the entire cosmos turning within my body, and the other things you desire to see.

I am time, the destroyer of all; I have come to consume the world.

That one is dear to me who runs not after the pleasant or away from the painful, grieves not, lusts not, but lets things come and go as they happen.

Just as a reservoir is of little use when the whole countryside is flooded, scriptures are of little use to the illumined man or woman, who sees the Lord everywhere.

They alone see truly who see the Lord the same in every creature, who see the deathless in the hearts of all that die. Seeing the same Lord everywhere, they do not harm themselves or others. Thus they attain the supreme goal.

With a drop of my energy I enter the earth and support all creatures. Through the moon, the vessel of life-giving fluid, I nourish all plants. I enter breathing creatures and dwell within as the life-giving breath. I am the fire in the stomach which digests all food.

There are three gates to this self-destructive hell: lust, anger, and greed. Renounce these three.

Pleasure from the senses seems like nectar at first, but it is bitter as poison in the end.

That which seems like poison at first, but tastes like nectar in the end – this is the joy of sattva, born of a mind at peace with itself.

The Lord dwells in the hearts of all creatures and whirls them round upon the wheel of maya. Run to him for refuge with all your strength, and peace profound will be yours through his grace.

Whatever you do, make it an offering to me – the food you eat, the sacrifices you make, the help you give, even your suffering.

I am heat; I give and withhold the rain. I am immortality and I am death; I am what is and what is not.

Those who worship other gods with faith and devotion also worship me, Arjuna, even if they do not observe the usual forms. I am the object of all worship, its enjoyer and Lord.

Those who remember me at the time of death will come to me. Do not doubt this. Whatever occupies the mind at the time of death determines the destination of the dying; always they will tend toward that state of being.

When meditation is mastered, the mind is unwavering like the flame of a lamp in a windless place.

They are forever free who renounce all selfish desires and break away from the egocage of “I,” “me,” and “mine” to be united with the Lord. This is the supreme state. Attain to this, and pass from death to immortality.

They live in wisdom who see themselves in all and all in them, who have renounced every selfish desire and sense-craving tormenting the heart.

Those who are motivated only by desire for the fruits of action are miserable, for they are constantly anxious about the results of what they do.

You have the right to work, but never to the fruit of work. You should never engage in action for the sake of reward, nor should you long for inaction.

Perform work in this world, Arjuna, as a man established within himself – without selfish attachments, and alike in success and defeat. For yoga is perfect evenness of mind.

At the beginning of time I declared two paths for the pure heart: jnana yoga, the contemplative path of spiritual wisdom, and karma yoga, the active path of selfless service.

Do your work with the welfare of others always in mind. It was by such work that Janaka attained perfection; others too have followed this path.

There is nothing in the three worlds for me to gain, Arjuna, nor is there anything I do not have; I continue to act, but I am not driven by any need of my own.

The ignorant work for their own profit, Arjuna; the wise work for the welfare of the world, without thought for themselves.

It is better to strive in one’s own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of another. Nothing is ever lost in following one’s own dharma, but competition in another’s dharma breeds fear and insecurity.

The senses are higher than the body, the mind higher than the senses; above the mind is the intellect, and above the intellect is the Atman. Thus, knowing that which is supreme, let the Atman rule the ego. Use your mighty arms to slay the fierce enemy that is selfish desire.

You and I have passed through many births, Arjuna. You have forgotten, but I remember them all.

My true being is unborn and changeless. I am the Lord who dwells in every creature. Through the power of my own maya, I manifest myself in a finite form.

Those who know me as their own divine Self break through the belief that they are the body and are not reborn as separate creatures. Such a one, Arjuna, is united with me.

Delivered from selfish attachment, fear, and anger, filled with me, surrendering themselves to me, purified in the fire of my being, many have reached the state of unity in me.

Actions do not cling to me because I am not attached to their results. Those who understand this and practice it live in freedom.

The wise see that there is action in the midst of inaction and inaction in the midst of action. Their consciousness is unified, and every act is done with complete awareness.

The process of offering is Brahman; that which is offered is Brahman. Brahman offers the sacrifice in the fire of Brahman. Brahman is attained by those who see Brahman in every action.

The offering of wisdom is better than any material offering, Arjuna; for the goal of all work is spiritual wisdom.

Approach those who have realized the purpose of life and question them with reverence and devotion; they will instruct you in this wisdom.

Even if you were the most sinful of sinners, Arjuna, you could cross beyond all sin by the raft of spiritual wisdom.

Krishna delivers the Gita to Arjuna.

As the heat of a fire reduces wood to ashes, the fire of knowledge burns to ashes all karma.

Those who surrender to Brahman all selfish attachments are like the leaf of a lotus floating clean and dry in water. Sin cannot touch them.

Those who renounce attachment in all their deeds live content in the “city of nine gates,” the body, as its master. They are not driven to act, nor do they involve others in action.

Those who possess this wisdom have equal regard for all. They see the same Self in a spiritual aspirant and an outcaste, in an elephant, a cow, and a dog.

Pleasures conceived in the world of the senses have a beginning and an end and give birth to misery, Arjuna. The wise do not look for happiness in them. But those who overcome the impulses of lust and anger which arise in the body are made whole and live in joy. They find their joy, their rest, and their light completely within themselves. United with the Lord, they attain nirvana in Brahman.

Free from anger and selfish desire, unified in mind, those who follow the path of yoga and realize the Self are established forever in that supreme state.

Knowing me as the friend of all creatures, the Lord of the universe, the end of all offerings and all spiritual disciplines, they attain eternal peace.

It is not those who lack energy or refrain from action, but those who work without expectation of reward who attain the goal of meditation.

Those who cannot renounce attachment to the results of their work are far from the path.

Reshape yourself through the power of your will; never let yourself be degraded by self-will. The will is the only friend of the Self, and the will is the only enemy of the Self.

To those who have conquered themselves, the will is a friend. But it is the enemy of those who have not found the Self within them.

The supreme Reality stands revealed in the consciousness of those who have conquered themselves. They live in peace, alike in cold and heat, pleasure and pain, praise and blame.

With all fears dissolved in the peace of the Self and all actions dedicated to Brahman, controlling the mind and fixing it on me, sit in meditation with me as your only goal.

Arjuna, those who eat too much or eat too little, who sleep too much or sleep too little, will not succeed in meditation. But those who are temperate in eating and sleeping, work and recreation, will come to the end of sorrow through meditation.

In the still mind, in the depths of meditation, the Self reveals itself. Beholding the Self by means of the Self, an aspirant knows the joy and peace of complete fulfillment.

Wherever the mind wanders, restless and diffuse in its search for satisfaction without, lead it within; train it to rest in the Self.

I am ever present to those who have realized me in every creature. Seeing all life as my manifestation, they are never separated from me.

When a person responds to the joys and sorrows of others as if they were his own, he has attained the highest state of spiritual union.

No one who does good work will ever come to a bad end, either here or in the world to come.

Through constant effort over many lifetimes, a person becomes purified of all selfish desires and attains the supreme goal of life.

Meditation is superior to severe asceticism and the path of knowledge. It is also superior to selfless service. May you attain the goal of meditation, Arjuna!

Even among those who meditate, that man or woman who worships me with perfect faith, completely absorbed in me, is the most firmly established in yoga.

With your mind intent on me, Arjuna, discipline yourself with the practice of yoga. Depend on me completely. Listen, and I will dispel all your doubts; you will come to know me fully and be united with me.

The birth and dissolution of the cosmos itself take place in me. There is nothing that exists separate from me, Arjuna. The entire universe is suspended from me as my necklace of jewels.

Arjuna, I am the taste of pure water and the radiance of the sun and moon. I am the sacred word and the sound heard in air, and the courage of human beings. I am the sweet fragrance in the earth and the radiance of fire; I am the life in every creature and the striving of the spiritual aspirant.

My eternal seed, Arjuna, is to be found in every creature. I am the power of discrimination in those who are intelligent, and the glory of the noble. In those who are strong, I am strength, free from passion and selfish attachment. I am desire itself, if that desire is in harmony with the purpose of life.

The states of sattva, rajas, and tamas come from me, but I am not in them.

The three gunas make up my divine maya, difficult to overcome. But they cross over this maya who take refuge in me.

Some come to the spiritual life because of suffering, some in order to understand life; some come through a desire to achieve life’s purpose, and some come who are men and women of wisdom. Unwavering in devotion, always united with me, the man or woman of wisdom surpasses all the others.

After many births the wise seek refuge in me, seeing me everywhere and in everything. Such great souls are very rare.

The world, deluded, does not know that I am without birth and changeless. I know everything about the past, the present, and the future, Arjuna; but there is no one who knows me completely.

Delusion arises from the duality of attraction and aversion, Arjuna; every creature is deluded by these from birth.

Those who see me ruling the cosmos, who see me in the adhibhuta, the adhidaiva, and the adhiyajna, are conscious of me even at the time of death.

The Lord is the supreme poet, the first cause, the sovereign ruler, subtler than the tiniest particle, the support of all, inconceivable, bright as the sun, beyond darkness.

Remembering me at the time of death, close down the doors of the senses and place the mind in the heart. Then, while absorbed in meditation, focus all energy upwards to the head. Repeating in this state the divine name, the syllable Om that represents the changeless Brahman, you will go forth from the body and attain the supreme goal.

Krishna and Arjuna at Kurukshetra

I am easily attained by the person who always remembers me and is attached to nothing else. Such a person is a true yogi, Arjuna.

Every creature in the universe is subject to rebirth, Arjuna, except the one who is united with me.

The six months of the northern path of the sun, the path of light, of fire, of day, of the bright fortnight, leads knowers of Brahman to the supreme goal. The six months of the southern path of the sun, the path of smoke, of night, of the dark fortnight, leads other souls to the light of the moon and to rebirth.

Under my watchful eye the laws of nature take their course. Thus is the world set in motion; thus the animate and the inanimate are created.

I am the ritual and the sacrifice; I am true medicine and the mantram. I am the offering and the fire which consumes it, and the one to whom it is offered.

I am the father and mother of this universe, and its grandfather too; I am its entire support. I am the sum of all knowledge, the purifier, the syllable Om; I am the sacred scriptures, the Rig, Yajur, and Sama Vedas.

I am the goal of life, the Lord and support of all, the inner witness, the abode of all. I am the only refuge, the one true friend; I am the beginning, the staying, and the end of creation; I am the womb and the eternal seed.

Those who follow the rituals given in the Vedas, who offer sacrifices and take soma, free themselves from evil and attain the vast heaven of the gods, where they enjoy celestial pleasures. When they have enjoyed these fully, their merit is exhausted and they return to this land of death. Thus observing Vedic rituals but caught in an endless chain of desires, they come and go.

Those who worship me and meditate on me constantly, without any other thought – I will provide for all their needs.

Those who worship the devas will go to the realm of the devas; those who worship their ancestors will be united with them after death. Those who worship phantoms will become phantoms; but my devotees will come to me. Those who worship the devas will go to the realm of the devas; those who worship their ancestors will be united with them after death. Those who worship phantoms will become phantoms; but my devotees will come to me.

Fill your mind with me; love me; serve me; worship me always. Seeking me in your heart, you will at last be united with me.

All the scriptures lead to me; I am their author and their wisdom.

Bhishma, Drona, Jayadratha, Karna, and many others are already slain. Kill those whom I have killed. Do not hesitate. Fight in this battle and you will conquer your enemies.

Not by knowledge of the Vedas, nor sacrifice, nor charity, nor rituals, nor even by severe asceticism has any other mortal seen what you have seen, O heroic Arjuna.

Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Better than knowledge is meditation. But better still is surrender of attachment to results, because there follows immediate peace.

Some realize the Self within them through the practice of meditation, some by the path of wisdom, and others by selfless service. Others may not know these paths; but hearing and following the instructions of an illumined teacher, they too go beyond death.

The brightness of the sun, which lights up the world, the brightness of the moon and of fire – these are my glory.

Calmness, gentleness, silence, self-restraint, and purity: these are the disciplines of the mind.

To refrain from selfish acts is one kind of renunciation, called sannyasa; to renounce the fruit of action is another, called tyaga.

By serving me with steadfast love, a man or woman goes beyond the gunas. Such a one is fit for union with Brahman.

When they see the variety of creation rooted in that unity and growing out of it, they attain fulfillment in Brahman.

I have shared this profound truth with you, Arjuna. Those who understand it will attain wisdom; they will have done that which has to be done.

I give you these precious words of wisdom; reflect on them and then do as you choose.

£isten oh Sadhu...!

Oh unattached being. I am a yogi from many a eons.I don't come or go nor do I get erased .I relish and enjoy the unstruck Anahat Shabad. In every direction I see only a collection and carnival of me
I am in everybody and everybody is in me.I am utterly alone.I am the Siddha,I am the Samadhi
I am the one who remains silent, I am the one who speaks. The form is my own form manifesting the formless.I am the one who plays with himself .Kabir says: "Listen oh Sadhu, there is no desire anymore.I am floating in myself in my own little hut playing effortlessly by own desire."

Kabir says....

When I was,Hari was not,now Hari is and I am no more:All darkness vanished, When I saw the Lamp within my heart. The effulgance of the supreme Being is beyond the imagination:Ineffable is His beauty, to see it is the only `proof'.It was a good thing the hail fell to ground, for it lost its own selfhood:
Melting, it turned into water and rolled down to the pond.Him whom I went out to seek, I found just where I was:He now has become myself whom before I called 'Another'!

The Honeymoon that Never Ends

by Osho

LOVE IS NOT A RELATIONSHIP. Love relates, but it is not a relationship. A relationship is something finished. A relationship is a noun; the full stop has come, the honeymoon is over. Now there is no joy, no enthusiasm, now all is finished. You can carry it on, just to keep your promises. You can carry it on because it is comfortable, convenient, cozy. You can carry it on because there is nothing else to do. You can carry it on because if you disrupt it, it is going to create much trouble for you… Relationship means something complete, finished, closed.

Love is never a relationship; love is relating. It is always a river, flowing, unending. Love knows no full stop; the honeymoon begins but never ends. It is not like a novel that starts at a certain point and ends at a certain point. It is an ongoing phenomenon. Lovers end, love continues– it is a continuum. It is a verb, not a noun.

And why do we reduce the beauty of relating to relationship? Why are we in such a hurry? Because to relate is insecure, and relationship is a security. Relationship has a certainty; relating is just a meeting of two strangers, maybe just an overnight stay and in the morning we say goodbye. Who knows what is going to happen tomorrow? And we are so afraid that we want to make it certain, we want to make it predictable. We would like tomorrow to be according to our ideas; we don't allow it freedom to have its own say. So we immediately reduce every verb to a noun.

You are in love with a woman or a man and immediately you start thinking of getting married. Make it a legal contract. Why? How does the law come into love? The law comes into love because love is not there. It is only a fantasy, and you know the fantasy will disappear. Before it disappears settle down, before it disappears do something so it becomes impossible to separate.

In a better world, with more meditative people, with a little more enlightenment spread over the earth, people will love, love immensely, but their love will remain a relating not a relationship. And I am not saying that their love will be only momentary. There is every possibility their love may go deeper than your love, may have a higher quality of intimacy, may have something more of poetry and more of godliness in it. And there is every possibility their love may last longer than your so-called relationship ever lasts. But it will not be guaranteed by the law, by the court, by the policeman. The guarantee will be inner. It will be a commitment from the heart, it will be a silent communion.

If you enjoy being with somebody, you would like to enjoy it more and more. If you enjoy the intimacy, you would like to explore the intimacy more and more. And there are a few flowers of love which bloom only after long intimacies. There are seasonal flowers too; within six weeks they are there, in the sun, but within six weeks again they are gone forever. There are flowers that take years to come, and there are flowers that take many years to come. The longer it takes, the deeper it goes. But it has to be a commitment from one heart to another heart. It has not even to be verbalized, because to verbalize it is to profane it. It has to be a silent commitment; eye to eye, heart to heart, being to being. It has to be understood, not said.

Forget relationships and learn how to relate.

Once you are in a relationship you start taking each other for granted– that's what destroys all love affairs. The woman thinks she knows the man, the man thinks he knows the woman. Nobody knows either! It is impossible to know the other, the other remains a mystery. And to take the other for granted is insulting, disrespectful.

To think that you know your wife is very, very ungrateful. How can you know the woman? How can you know the man? They are processes, they are not things. The woman that you knew yesterday is not there today. So much water has gone down the Ganges; she is somebody else, totally different. Relate again, start again, don't take it for granted.

And the man that you slept with last night, look at his face again in the morning. He is no more the same person, so much has changed. So much, incalculably much has changed. That is the difference between a thing and a person. The furniture in the room is the same, but the man and the woman, they are no more the same. Explore again, start again. That's what I mean by relating.

Relating means you are always starting, you are continuously trying to become acquainted. Again and again, you are introducing yourself to each other. You are trying to see the many facets of the other's personality. You are trying to penetrate deeper and deeper into his realm of inner feelings, into the deep recesses of his being. You are trying to unravel a mystery which cannot be unraveled. That is the joy of love: the exploration of consciousness.

And if you relate, and don't reduce it to a relationship, then the other will become a mirror to you. Exploring him, unawares you will be exploring yourself too. Getting deeper into the other, knowing his feelings, his thoughts, his deeper stirrings, you will be knowing your own deeper stirrings too. Lovers become mirrors to each other, and then love becomes a meditation. Relationship is ugly, relating is beautiful.

Hence I say relate. By saying relate, I mean remain continuously on a honeymoon. Go on searching and seeking each other, finding new ways of loving each other, finding new ways of being with each other. And each person is such an infinite mystery, inexhaustible, unfathomable, that it is not possible that you can ever say, "I have known her," or, "I have known him." At the most you can say, "I have tried my best, but the mystery remains a mystery."

In fact the more you know, the more mysterious the other becomes. Then love is a constant adventure.
